New Zealand Timezone Weight Upload Issue from Index

Former Member
Former Member
I am in New Zealand and using Index Smart Scale and weigh myself in the mornings. However, when my weight uploads from the Index it shows in Garmin Connect and the app as relating to the day before. If I weigh myself after 1pm in the afternoon it uploads to the correct date. I have 2 watches and have re-set both of them and all settings are correct for my timezone (Auckland) except for daylight saving which is not accounted for.

There is a similar issue with my Forerunner 235 in that I have a Training Plan in my calendar which looks fine in Garmin Connect but in my watch the Training Calemdar has Sunday's long run under 'today' and my next relative day in my calendar is Wednesday 8 March 2017 with the Intervals I need to do on Tuesday, I am always missing a day?

Someone else who is in Australia has the same problem with their weights (see Timezone Funkiness post)
  • Issue is still there for me, despite this alleged update. Present in GC and GCM.

    I'm in Melbourne, Australia.

Garmin, why isn't this fixed. Too hard for your code monkeys to get it right?

I am still getting updates to my case that they are working on it (they still request information etc periodically).
I guess there is (as with all SW development) a priority level assigned to cases to focus the development teams "best impact outcomes" for time and effort.
Whilst the issue is somewhat frustrating the core functionality is there and is just a simple time shift error. Once the user is aware that the issue exists it can be understood and managed. I question if the focus of your frustration in your post of the reading displaying on the correct day as the most important thing or the metrics being recorded accurately and preserved for trending and review. I chose to raise it with Garmin support as feedback to ensure they were aware of the issue. Whilst I would like to see it function ideally (and sure they would too) for the time being I place the importance on the information and metrics making it to a point so that I can use/understand/act on the data (just like any activity data from a run etc),

As a not these forums are only occasionally monitored by Garmin as I understand it. If this is a major issue for you, have you logged a ticket as the weighting of the case may (or may not) be affected by such parameters (depending on how any particular SW developer (not just limited to Garmin) choses to manage their system).
  • I've got an ongoing email exchange with Garmin AU support on this issue.

They have advised me to check if my timezone settings are correct in GC. Mine are so either that's not the problem or the setting is broken/not working. Reading the help blurb next to the setting it is designed for exactly this usage scenario - to ensure correct date/time stamps are applied to certain non-GPS metrics (i.e. weight!!).

Anyway, I thought I'd leave this here in case someone has the wrong timezone set & this fixes their problem.

  • Hi thanks for your update

I must say support have been very quite in recent weeks on my open ticket stated previously in the thread.

Like you I had checked the time zone setting and they are correct

What I have noticed and reported to support is that on the calendar in GC web (in full page display) the weight is recorded against the correct day

The issue appears to be in the weight report dash on GC web and in the GCM App in regards to the time zone funkiness at least for me anyhow

Guess there are some higher weighted issues in front of this or this fix is much more complicated than one would think

Yep, same thing here. Calendar is fine. Everywhere else is not.
  • Ok so latest update from support is that HQ are aware of the issue and are working on the fix. No different to the responses other people have received in this thread but at least I've added another case to support HQ's development priority on this item.

If I was to jump into solution mode, it simply appears that the weight-specific sections of GC & GCM are not observing/adhering to the timezone setting. Other sections are observing the timezone setting (i.e. calendar, daily summary, etc).

Hi. Has there been a response to the date issue. I just purchased my scale last week. I have emailed garmin ti advise that there is a problem. I told them that i have a garmin forerunner and it has correct date but scales do not. They came back and told me to make sure that all people on the account have updated there details. I went back and said only one person on the account. Have not had response since.
  • After much delay and faultfinding I received a call from Garmin support today stating that they expect to roll out a fix for the weight time zone issue in the next 4-6 weeks
apparently this was a very interesting fault to trouble shoot as it only affected some users and very limited global locations
