Weird measurement on Body Fat and Water from one day to another

Former Member
Former Member
Hi everyone...

This is the second time since june (when i started using the scale) that i got a big change from one day to another un Body Fat, Water and bone mass.

I have to say that my weight measurement its ok because when i have any doubt I control it with an old scale i also have. I must say i measure myself every morning at the same time.

Can anyone explain how my Body can change from 29,5% to 20,5% in Body Fat just in one day? Or from 51,5% to 58,1% in Body Water??

More extrange is i supposely changed from 5.7 to 6.8 kg in bone mass overnight??

Any explanation??

    Same issue here

    Hi Mencho22,

I witnessed the same issue since yesterday. Body fat from 18.7 to 11.3, and also large adjustment in water and bone mass. Like you always weighting at around the sametime of day (early morning before breakfast). My weight is correct and the new values look way to low.

Did you or anybody else found a solution or explanation?

    Kind regards, Joop

    No explanation at all.
Technology is NOT reliable. Track the weight and forget the rest.
Weight may jump up and down as well, though. Mine is jumping a lot, +- 1.5 kg easily.

It seems Garmin Scale's body fat measurement is very inaccurate

I've visited local healthcare center to find out how accurate Garmin Scale is.
And body fat was 10% off. Which is ridiculous.
I will upload details when the forum allow me to post new ones.

You'll need to let us know how the Health Centre measured your body fat, as many of the methods they use can be equally unreliable, especially if not done correctly (even by "experts")

Has your Activity Class in Garmin Connect changed (sometimes this seems to happen automatically)? If you've changed it to anything above 7 (I think), then it decides you're a hardcore lifetime athlete and uses different algorithms which give vastly different results, especially for body fat.
