WiFi and Connection issues

Hi...
I bought the Index a couple weeks ago.
First Impression - great.
Finally a scale that works with WLAN and the Garmin Portal.

After 3 days, it had a Problem finding my Router mornings, blinking, searching for the router.
I used my cell phone and checked the WLAN Configuration, everything was ok...exited the Settings and stepped on the scale again, the Scale worked fine.

3 days later the Same Problem, no internet connection...
Again i had to enter the Scales WLAN Configuration and exit the configuration (without changing anything) to get the scale to find the Internet.

2 Days Later...the same story
I tried the changing the Security settings (switched from WPA/WPA2 to just WPA2) in mey Router, still losing connection after 2-3 days of use.
I tried to use a different Access Point (Devolo WLAN 1200+), the Connection was lost the next day! Woke up, stepped on the scale and no internet. No Sync - even though i Setup the Devolo Access point the nicht before. the Access point works fine, my Cell Phone ist connected as well.

is this a Software Problem?
Anyone else having this problem?
The Scale is direct under my router, and the Devolo Access point was also an arm lenght away! Still losing the connection and no Syncing with the Portal

Anyone got this thing to work all the time?
Or am I missing a step in the Configuration.

Can anyone give me a tip?

Hello, my smart scale has worked without any issue till about two months ago. Since then weighting data can not be uploaded anymore and I get the infamous X cross in the right corner of the display. Re-installed several times. Perfect BT connection with my smartphone. The scale is also visible as connected in Garmin connect (allthough with a SW version that is both updated and not updated see other Garmin forum thread). Checked WiFi channel (#2) so that can not be an issue. Scale and router sit in the same position since months and very close to each other so signal strength can also not be an issue. Batteries changed already. Also tried in another room with another router, same issue. This looks like a Garmin server issue. For the moment I probably have the most expensive NOT connected weight scale in the market. Never had any issue with my Withings scale. Hopefully I get any reaction/solution after this post. Considering to post also on the DC Rainmaker site where this scale was originally reviewed.

Hi guys! first, thanks for sharing your experience!

I bought an Garmin Index a few days ago with the 3.0.0 fw. With the same WIFI problems like listed here. I fixed the router channel to 11 and WPA2 Security Mode with only AES Algorithms. Sometimes the wifi transmission works sometimes doesn´t work. I asked to a friend to lend me his ANT+ stick, to try some else, but I think the scale has the latest firmware.

Hello bulletbilltm, This is very useful information. Indeed when I test the clock.garmin.com NTP server I get fails. Used https://servertest.online/ntp to test this. This could very well be the root cause of the issue. Sadly enough my home gateway does not allow for a DNS server configuration. Is there a way to highlight this issue to Garmin support directly? They should get their NTP server up and running and re-write the scale firmware so that it becomes more robust.

I put in a support request via https://support.garmin.com/en-US/
No one from garmin seems to pay any attention to these forums
  • Also can confirm that the problem is NTP server. I rerouted clock.garmin.com and the scale connects every time.

Garmin-Ben can you take a look at this?
  • Garmin-Joey , Garmin-Blake and Garmin-Ben . Gentlemen, one of you, please acknowledge and let us know that you are drawing this issue to the attention of the support/product management people.

The last update to the scale is over a year old and problems like this an 7% body fat still persists. Did you give up on the scale? Im really disappointed to have bought it, already thinking it was in amazon flash sales to clear stock and get out of that market.
  • Has been since last December (6 months ago) that still getting a big X after every synchronization, scale already replaced now I've hardware rev. F, changed already 2 router and 2 internet provider BUT apart giving "weird" fat%, this expensive gadget looks like has been forgotten by Garmin support (latest firmware more than a year old) and hundred of users experiencing my issue; I'm interested in an official reply for Garmin stating that's an hardware issue or if we as customer shall we getting it works as advertised
  • New UK owner as of yesterday, getting intermittent X on updating. Wifi connection all seems fine, I am guessing this is the NTP issue people have talked about.

Unfortunately my Asus RT-N66U appears not to have any way of rerouting from Garmin NTP
