WiFi and Connection issues

Hi...
I bought the Index a couple weeks ago.
First Impression - great.
Finally a scale that works with WLAN and the Garmin Portal.

After 3 days, it had a Problem finding my Router mornings, blinking, searching for the router.
I used my cell phone and checked the WLAN Configuration, everything was ok...exited the Settings and stepped on the scale again, the Scale worked fine.

3 days later the Same Problem, no internet connection...
Again i had to enter the Scales WLAN Configuration and exit the configuration (without changing anything) to get the scale to find the Internet.

2 Days Later...the same story
I tried the changing the Security settings (switched from WPA/WPA2 to just WPA2) in mey Router, still losing connection after 2-3 days of use.
I tried to use a different Access Point (Devolo WLAN 1200+), the Connection was lost the next day! Woke up, stepped on the scale and no internet. No Sync - even though i Setup the Devolo Access point the nicht before. the Access point works fine, my Cell Phone ist connected as well.

is this a Software Problem?
Anyone else having this problem?
The Scale is direct under my router, and the Devolo Access point was also an arm lenght away! Still losing the connection and no Syncing with the Portal

Anyone got this thing to work all the time?
Or am I missing a step in the Configuration.

Can anyone give me a tip?

    About to return this scale...

I was so excited to get this scale, got it Wednesday and connected right to my router no issues and I used it for 2 days... now on Friday it will not connect to the router, its literally 3 feet away and it will not connect! I am not about to fight with this scale every time I want to upload my weight, Just better off looking elsewhere I guess.

I have reset it many time and if I pick it up so its inches away, it connects but then I put it down to use it and I get an X... Will be starting the Return process on Amazon :(

    Edit:
Ugh I got out an old G router and it connected like nothing was wrong, it just does not like my "Buffalo AirStation WZR‑600DHP" this is stupid since it worked fine before the update to Software Version: 2.70. Anyway I will test it until monday if it gives me anymore issues it is going back.

    Edit 2:
its been over a week since my last edit, and the scale has worked fine, after it was connected to my old G router, I unplugged it and its staying connected to my Buffalo AirStation (same wifi settings on both), so looks good. Its staying in my home :)

    Edit 3:
Its been a few weeks and now my scale is not connecting again!! Garmin Fix this!

Problem solved after using ANT+ to setup the Index smart Scale

Problem solved after I used ANT+ to setup my Index Smart Scale. I have never expected to get it work since I bought it in April 2016.

Thank you for all your contribution in this forum.

    WiFi Wrench issue

Got this scale and I thought that maybe I wouldn't have issues with it.

Setup out of the box. Saw my bluetooth on my Galaxy Note 5, Check... Saw my wifi network and I entered the WPA2 password. It says it connected... Then the blimking wifi icon and the wrench of death. It will not connect. I tried connecting it to another router in the house. It saw the connection on my mobile Connect app... but after that. Flashing WiFi and the wrench of death... I even set my wifi to open and still the wrench.

Our main WiFi is an ASUS RT-AC66R. I updated the firmware on it to the latest today also. No luck. We have a secondary Linksys extender router that I tried connecting it to. The Connect App saw it fine but the scale can't connect. I have now ordered a $36 ANT USB device to be delivered in 4 days. They should just ship these units with an ANT stick since so many units seem to have an issue with routers based on all the forum posts that there are on these things.

    Any suggestions.

note: I removed the scale from my connect account and from the connect app on my phone, then removed the Connect App off my phone and batteries out of the scale to start over. Same results.

Yes. I think you should wait for Ant+ USB and try again with your computer.
I tried many things that I can with the network for about 2 weeks and it didn't work. Only USB Ant+ can solved my wrech of death problem.

Still same Wrench of death and blinking WiFi.

I got the ANT stick today. Plugged it into the computer. Garmin Express saw the device no problem. I configured it for my WiFi at home through this process. Then I hit refresh. The scale went into WiFi search mode and just blinked until the X of death showed up on the right side of the scale.

I tried connecting it to our other less expensive WiFi router also, still the same result. On Garmin Express it says I have the latest update. 2.7.0.... forgot the last digit but it said I am current.

    Any other ideas. :(

Just got off the phone with Tech Support. My scale they said probably updated to 2.70.0.0 with the ANT stick but it is still showing the blinking WiFi icon of death with that wrench.
Explained to them all the steps and they said that they would be sending me an RMA and to send the scale to them and they would ship me a new one... Watch.. I'll get home today and it will be working... Just wishful thinking. LOL

So I got a new scale from Garmin after RMA on my old one.

Connected it to my phone no issue (BT)
Then Connected to my WiFi at work Yes it worked.
Got home and connected it to my home network. It shows that it see's my home network on the Connect App but the scale just gives me the X at the right side with the blinking WiFi. The scale does show my weight and all the metrics now and recognizes me as BOB. But no updates to the garmin site. Boo... Version is 2.70. Going to try ANT stick tonight when I get off work.

All else fails I will buy an OLD WiFi router and pair it with my new router. Shouldn't have to do this GARMIN.

    New Routers

    So one final update.

I cleared the scale from my android phone and from Garmin Connect to try a fresh setup.

Scale connected through ANT on my PC on the Garmin Connect. Told it the details and WiFi to use.
WiFi with the x to the right and now the wrench of doom.

I am convinced that this scale is not compatible with my newer router or repeater that is connected to it. I have ordered a wireless G router from amazon for 12 bucks and will try that.

I am so frustrated that this works with the WiFi at my work, which is not AC or N compatible. This day and age they hardware installed in this scale should work with newer routers since that is all that is being sold now.

Will update on Friday or Monday once I get the old G router setup at home. If not, then it is going back to vendor and I am giving up on the Garmin Scale. Any other suggestions.
  • Which security mode are you using on your home WiFi router? Many are capable of the full range of options, including those meant primarily for business applications, while I seem to recall that only a limited set are supported by the Index scale. I’m pretty sure it came up in this forum, so perhaps you might do some searching (I know phpBB’s search capabilities are meager, but that’s what we have to work with…).

    So I am using WPA2/Personal

Update. I got the Belkin Wireless G router and hooked it up and having it serving internet if you connect to it. All wireless devices in the house have no issue connecting to it. But the dammed scale will not get out of blinking WiFi or Wrench mode. I am throroughly done in buying and trouble shooting this device. I just hope Amazon will refund my money since it took over a month of RMA and trouble shooting to come to this end.

GARMIN.... you lost a customer that likes all your other products but gives this scale a double goose egg.
