How to zero out weight?

Former Member
Former Member
My Garmin index always starts at 1 lb with nothing on it or 5 lbs with nothing on it. All I do is take from under the sink, so my kid cant overwrite my weight, and place it on the ground. I normally have just accepted the fact that its going to add on 1-5 lbs based upon what I can get done to the scale itself.

Is there a way to "zero out" the weight with nothing on it?

Have you had any luck with this? I generally wait for the display to turn off and then tap it with my toe to wake it up. At that point it generally zeroes itself, though sometimes it displays 0.1 or 0.2 and I either let it go back to sleep and wake it up again or I just step on. I have another, known accurate, scale that I use to check the Garmin reading and the end reading is usually correct even if it starts out displaying one or two tenths of a pound before I step on. Occasionally, though, the Garmin goes wildly off (by pounds) -- not sure what's causing that, but a subsequent weighing will be correct. So it's not as reliable or repeatable as I'd like, but in general it's OK. It would be nice if there was a way to calibrate it.
  • I am having a similar issue. I just got the scale and it worked fine for a few days, though seemed a tad heavy. Now it reads 4.5-4.6 lbs without anyone standing on it - and it randomly comes on and flashes this weight. My total weight has increased by the same amount. How can I fix this?
