Or should I wait until all measurements are displayed on the screen?

The >>>> and ✔ at the end comes faster than all measurements are shown.

until the check shows up - in my experience if you step off it all doesn't transfer to the app.

Once your weight blinks its done measuring, the >>>>>>>>✔ signifies the upload to garmin connect was complete
