Adding half a pound

So I have been noticing this for awhile, just curious if it is only my scale or everyone's. When I first step on the scale it will begin to register the weight and it will show what I would think would be a final weight. Then at the last second it kinda flashes and then shows what the actual final weight is. My question is that it seems like the final weight is always about .5 lbs heavier than a weight it stopped at a split second before. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this just something it does during its normal process?

None of this is a big deal, just curious what is going on.

Thanks....

Mine does the same thing, although I think it's more like 0.6 lb for me. I have no idea why it does this.

Mine always adds a last .1 pound.

I've always just found it interesting, not irritating.

It seems to be working well though. The body fat %, muscle mass, water %, all seem to be tracking within a close range every day.

It uploads quickly and recognizes me every day. I'll have to have my daughter step on it again to see if it still recognizes her.
  • Yes, every morning: "Hey, that's not so bad........ Aw, crap!!"

    But do love this scale!
  • Yep same here. It think it is using left and right sensors first and calculating some kind of average in that split second.
  • This issue is related to how weight is being sampled and then displayed. Garmin is aware of users seeing this and it will be resolved in a future update to the Index Scale.

I wonder if the update will fix the FAT% issue (really inaccurate):

1 - FAT% is user activity Class dependant?

2 - update with this scale but....not accurate data VS my "old" Tanita BC-1000 that was differing from my nutritionist Biavector Akern by 1% in the last 3 years

Mine adds 200 grams (0.2 kg) (a little bit less than half pound).
This "feature" is not the most annoying one, there are bunch of others like:

-Cannot connect to Apple AirPort based wifi (Connect app just dies although I have tried to tweak my wifi)
Edit: apparently changing the iPhone's language to English helped and the wifi selection prompted my AirPort's password instead of crashing.

-My wife and son overwrite my weight (Is the software SO BAD scase it thinks I have lost 2/3 of my weight in one day?!)
(my wife haven't been yet invited and my son cannot even recognized although invitation procedure has been setup)

-Only one measurement stored per day
-->well not even that if wifi or GC connection is down and I get the "X" mark then nothing gets synced

I really regret getting this scale!
Garmin should stop selling it at once.

When the next Garmin Scale SW is released?
  • Can you not just return it to the store as faulty? That's what I did. I've learned many lessons that it's not good to wait until Garmin fix things as it will either take a long time, not happen or introduce new bugs!
