How / When to tap?

Hi,
I've had my scale for a few days now and I can't seem to get the tap to work.
I've set myself up as a user and when I stand on it, it weighs me and then shows Name>, prompting me to tap/scroll. When I tap my foot nothing hapens.
If I leave it, it keeps name and updates the measurements to GC, as well as scrolling through them.
This is ok, but my daughter hopped on and, of course, her measurements over wrote mine for the day, so I deleted them.
I have now set up a dummy GC account as guest and added that to my scale.
The question is, do I select the user (tap) before getting on or after the measurement?
Do I tap with foot or hand? How hard and where?
Can you change the delay time before the scale defaults to a user?
Can you force the scale to select a user before weighing?

The issue of multiple daily measurements and editing on GC would help a lot of these teething issues, but until that's fixed I'd like a little help on basic use.
Thanks.

    950

it automatically picks you.. the name tap after being weighed is to switch to another user or guest if it picked the wrong person.. normal behavior is to get on and let it weigh you, get off and watch the stats, 99% of the time no name tap

So I didn't really see an answer to the 'how'... where do you tap? and when if the name displayed is wrong and you need to change users?

    (Hi my first post/reply)
I have just come home from the store with my third Index Scale
The first 2 had the same problem as you describe
The first I returned = tap not working.
I had to lift the Index Scale from the floor, only then registered as a tap.
The second I returned = tap not working + I gained 10% body fat over the night!!

I suspected there was a manufacturing defect in the 2 first (white Smart Scale) (they come from the same stock/store)

I went back to the store and demanded my money back, and I did.
Went to another store and bought the same Index Scale (this time in dark blue color)

    And the tap function works!!!!!

I've only tested it in a few hours

I would recommend you to return your Garmin Smart index scale and buy from another store, just to make sure you do not get one that is produced in the same time period as your old(defect Scale)

I wonder why they not testing the tap function before they sending it to the shops.
if they test the tap function before they send it out should they really see through their their routines (maybe some have slept in working hour)?

But can someone please just answer the question: Where do you tap? How do you tap?

Do you tap with your big toe? With all your toes? Do you lift a foot and tap the scale top? Tap the front like when starting it?

    Thanks.
  • For me the tap is not really a tap.
I have to lift my right foot and put weight on it to tap. If you do it lightly, it won't work.
I don't think it's a sensor on the top sheet. It feels like it senses the weight.
At least, that's how mine works.
    Hope it helps.

    Same here.
I need to tap hard and not just touch the surface.

Right foot lift it off the scale not very high just lift it off. Tap the top right corner of the scale in the center of the right box. It will cycle through the users.
