I have recently purchased this Garmin Swim and cannot get it to register my lengths, distance , stroke, swolf. I follow the instruction...swimming mode, 25M pool, customise the setting as well. When in the pool press the blue button then press the start button push off and do the length, swim a length and pause it as instructed in the manual. I have tried many times, leaving it on for various amount of times. I have been swimming 6 times now and still no luck....any help and suggestions please.
Are you saving the sessions after your swim? i dont tend to check my swim details until i have completely finished the session. The start of my session , I press the blue bottom,, press the middle right button when start swimming, (timer and lap/stroke count starts) when ever i stop for a break, i press the middle right hand button again., then press middle button to resume the count when i am ready to set off again. When i have finished the entire swimming session i click down from 'resume' to 'save' save session and can then view the history. History being the bottom right hand button, press middle button to enter the history and the date of your swim session should show, this will then give you a break down of lengths, total length swam, average pace and swolf score. Sorry, probably telling you how to suck eggs, but thought the basics would be a good start. Have you set the date and time etc on the watch?
The above instructions are good, with one exception. The middle right button is the Start/Stop/Enter button. Make sure to use it to Start the timer at the start of your session, use it to end the session, and then use it to Save the session. For rests, press the bottom-right button (it has a pause symbol engraved in it) to begin your rest. Then, before you resume swimming, press this Pause button again. It might be a good idea to try this at home and do an "air swim" (exactly what it sounds like, take 8 or 9 bug "strokes" with the watch arm, hold still for 2-3 seconds, then take another 8-9 strokes) to make sure you are comfortable with the button functions.
Thanks for both replies but I've already set the time, etc and done those things already. After the swim I save it but when zi view the data in history it only shows the duration time and the other items are blank. I've also tried the sir swim and this doesn't work either. Is it suppose to count the length so you can just view it as you swim so you don't have to count in your head, that's one of the main reasons I got it?.. Thanks
No, the watch should save the session to History with all the information (distance, pace, stroke type, etc). So, you can see your distance accumulating while you swim, it just doesn't get stored in History? Very strange. My next suggestion is to try a master reset of the watch as described here.
ooh i didnt know the bottom right was the pause, lol! just checked and did a dummy run and yes! doop de doo! every days a school day... in my defense i have only had my watch a month :)
