Ant+ with Android phone via USB cable?

I apologize if this question has been asked and answered before, I didn't see anything when I searched.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note II, and I'm trying to find some way to get it to read the Ant+ stick that came with my Swim watch. I know it won't connect wirelessly, but I have downloaded all the Ant apps (Radio, USB service, Plugins, Plugin Manager) and I have a USB A - USB micro cable. The phone seems to recognize that it's an Ant stick, and in fact whenever I plug it in it asks if it should start Ant USB service, and I say yes, and... that's it. Nothing starts, nothing happens beyond that. There is apparently no option whatsoever to manually start any of the apps except Plugin Manager, which doesn't do anything.

Anybody have any suggestions? At the moment I don't have access to a desktop or laptop that has a USB port. Or is this a wild goose chase? I don't see any way on the Garmin app to download stuff from an Ant stick, so maybe it doesn't matter.
