Software update available for the Garmin Swim

Hi all. There is a software update for the Garmin Swim that is available through myDashboard. I encourage everyone to update their devices. For help updating your software, check this FAQ. Note that you will lose your History and Settings when you do the update so you may want to upload your swim data to Garmin Connect before updating your software. For upload instructions, please visit Garmin Connect’s ‘Getting Started’ page.

The improvements with this update are:
- Allows user to set the custom pool size down to 17 meters or 18 yards
- Improved drill logging (after logging a drill, the watch returns to training page 4, ready to log another drill)
- Improved viewing of custom training page 5 following pauses and re-starts
- Allows user to set seconds in Clock > Time 1 and 2 through main menu
- Improved switching between time zones (T1 & T2)
- Added abbreviated translations for units of measure, like “LEN” and “STRK”
- Phase 1 of improved stroke type identification for breaststroke and backstroke

    Thank you for update !
  • Thanks for the update!

By the way, I only needed 51 seconds to set the language, time, date, weight and age again.

i am very appreciative of the update, one of the added features is something i requested - still doesn't mean i don't find it annoying i had to reprogram the watch and wanted to make that known.

i don't believe i've ever had to reprogram my 610 after a firmware upgrade, but it's been a while since there was one of those and i admit i can't 100% remember.
  • great! improvements always wellcome! now time to focus on making the watch more multisport. Ant+ compatibility exist, why not use it to pair with heart monitor, speed-cadence and foot-pod? Would easily pay the extra money to buy the added sensors!

That's what the 910XT is for...

disagree. 910xt is the perfect racing tool (GPS, power recording, limited battery). garmin swim could be the perfect training tool (easy to use, long battery life). besides if you add the price of the HR sensor, footpod and GSC sensor with the swim it reaches the price of the 910XT. Afterall, swimmers train outside the pool also!

There are two steps in the update and it seems you've somehow ended up stuck half-way through. Try this: Make sure your Garmin USB stick is plugged into your computer. Make sure ANT Agent is running (you'll see the logo in the system tray on the bottom-right). Bring your watch within range of the USB stick, inside of three meters is close enough. Wait a few minutes. The watch should continue the update where it left off.

If this doesn't work, please post again for more help.
