@ Garmin support: I am very dissapointed about the lack of editing function on garmin connect. The Garmin Swim produces some bad data, so a lot of functions (eg averages, min/max pace) are useless. I will return my watch if there is no chance to edit my data in near future.
As an web developer, I can say that it wouldn't take more than 20min for Garmin to add the EDIT feature to the Garmin Swim page. I am fine with the fact the watch sometimes mistakes one or two laps among 30 of them, however, not allowing us to confirm this data is ridiculous. Another common error is when the watch register a ultra fas lap... for some reason, sometimes it says you completed a lap in 2 seconds... what is clearly a mistake... I would love to be able to eliminate these laps and correct the styles. I also am considering to return this watch due this difficulty. Actually, I've noticed people are complaining about this issue for months... and Garmin does not care.
Unfortunately, this feature (Editing Data) is not available within Garmin Connect, but is provided free by third party (me). Visit http://www.swimmingwatchtools.com/. You can merge, split, and correct stroke detection mistakes. You'll get a new version of the file that you will be able to upload to your Garmin Connect Account. It's free. Don't return the watch, Garmin Swim is not perfect, but It's a great tool to get insight into you swimming and help you get better at it.
Hi Garmin. Just used my Garmin Swim for the first time and am joining the sea of voices requesting a simple edit feature to manually fix bad swim data. Please update to include the following through Garmin Connect:
1) merge two laps into one or split one lap in two 2) correct the stroke type
Without the ability to edit data post-workout, the Garmin Swim is pretty useless. I will likely return and will not recommend to my friends and teammates.
I totally agree that the functionality on the Garmin Connect site, for swimmers at least, is a bit under-powered. I find my watch is really excellent in capturing good swim data... but there are always exceptions where having the ability to edit data after upload would be handy. I've had the watch for almost 10 months now and immediately made the same request that you have above in these forums. I expected it would be a quick fix.
But, to date, as far as anyone on this forum can tell, there has been no action on what seems to be a basic request.
So I'd sum it up as a good device let down by less than stellar recognition of consumer demand for fairly simple improvements to the supporting website. It may be that something is being done behind the curtain, but as no-one is telling us we can only assume not!
i'd like to add my frustration about not being able to edit swim data. swimming about twice a week, and having begun using the 910xt since january 2014, i think only once did the watch manage to record my swimming accurately. the rest of the data is pretty much useless.
something as simple as being able to merge lenghts would considerably help.
when i have time, i'll tinker with the raw data, to see if there is a workaround - but it'll be tedious having to do it for nearly every swim
cool tool. i'll order a license from you @mathias. thanks for making it possible. you are showing garmin that you can do what garmin's army of developers cannot
