Hi, the solution to my problems with the watch, have resolved to do a Factory Reset.

Simultaneously press the keys History / watch icon / Up Arrow, then say YES
There will need to reconfigure the entire watch and lose the history in the watch.

Now do not add more laps.
Matches the style! incredible!

Now if I'm happy with the watch!

I tried to reset the watch.
Unfortunately in the case of my watch the action did not help.
Although it reduced the amount of errors in the distance, but still the clock showed 350 instead of 300 meters swimming (in pool size of 25 meters). In addition, the watch has detected wrong type of swimming (instead of free style is identified breaststroke) in some laps.
Are there any additional suggestions to improve accuracy the watch ?
Do you know when Garmin will release a new firmware version?
  • Here are some tips for improving the length counting accuracy that you might want to try:
    - Make sure you don't stop or change strokes mid-length. Strive for a smooth, consistent stroke pattern across the full length. Take long strokes (which is more efficient anyway).
    - Pause the watch (bottom-right button) when resting. Specifically, press Pause when you start a rest and then press it again to unpause right before you resume swimming.
    - Strive for a strong push-off from the wall with a nice glide phase. The actual turn style doesn't matter.
    - Leave the watch paused or use the drill logging feature if you are doing a drill.

A note about stroke type identification (free for brst, for example) - If there is a length counting error, there is a much higher chance that the watch will also get the stroke type wrong. (I know, insult to injury.) The watch uses the information from the whole length to decide on the stroke type, so if it is actually only looking at a partial length, this can cause errors.

I tried to implement all these methods. Unfortunately, they did not help.

Hello, the first thing I view after the Factory Reset was that pressing PLAY suddenly the watch to beeps along with a countdown. (When this did not work well not to)

Do the same thing I did to,

    1) Load the firmware, even if you have it.
    https://buy.garmin.com/shop/store/swimupdate.jsp

    2) Ask Reset again.

It worked for me, you should also run you.

PD. I have no idea when there will be a new firmware.

    Estra laps again :(

Hello, I have come to swim 1 mile in open water and watch as I use the chrono. When I returned to the pool to watch again fail. (After 1500 meters indicate., Pressing STOP saved 1550 m.) And has not detected the change of style.

DEFINITELY WATCH NEEDS A NEW FIRMWARE!

What size of pool were you swimming in? 25 m? Are you pressing Pause (bottom-right button) when you rest? When you finish swimming, do you press Pause before you read the 1500 m, or do you read it then press Stop? I am asking because we are trying to investigate your issue and have been unable to recreate it ourselves. Thanks.

By the way, re-loading the firmware should not make any difference. Assuming you ended the session after you swum in open water using the watch as a chrono, then that is not the problem either.

Hi ag_swims , I swimming 2000 mts non stop in 25 mts pool. The watch indicate 2000 mts but at the moment to press STOP button, the mts indicate 2050.
Other day I swimm 1500 mts, but the results is equal, the watch indicate 1500 but at the moment to press Stop the watch indicate 1550.

    I no press pause button.

In the last training the Watch inidcate I swimm in backstroke style in one lab, but I swim always in Crawl.

Some might think that swim erratically, but not so.
The Swimnovate PoolMate never ever gave me any error in the labs.

Thank you for the information. Do you press Stop as soon as you stop swimming? If you get out of the pool and walk around for a while, this can cause extra lengths to get counted. From your description, though, it doesn't sound like this is what you are doing. We will continue to work on this problem.

No I do not leave the pool XD (This is funny).

I just came from the pool, now the watch worked well in the first round well detected breast stroke, and the remaining 79 in Croll also.

The only difference between this session and the other where the watch did not work well, perhaps I tried debugging technique (within my limits of course).

This suggests that you should give more room to watch the technique to detect and do no tests only pro swimmers

We have noticed that results tend to get better as swimmers use the watch regularly. It could be that they get more comfortable with using the watch (press Pause/Unpause and other tips) or that their stroke technique becomes more consistent as they start swimming more regularly (assuming they weren't swimming regularly before).

The watch was designed using swimming data from hundreds of swimmers, not just pros (I know because I'm one of those swimmers and I am definitely NOT a pro). However we are working on collecting more data across a wider range of swimming abilities to improve the performance for everyone.
