935 run app keeps turning itself on

Hi

My new 935 seems to turn on the run app itself randomly. It happens about 2-3 times a day. All of a sudden I will get a vibration on my wrist letting me know that GPS has been acquired. I've tested to see if i'm inadvertently turning it on myself by squeezing it against my wrist, but I haven't been able to do it on purpose so I dont think its that.

Has anyone else had this problem where the activity app apparently turns itself on at random times?

  • i would guess that you are doing this inadvertently. one way to confirm is whether "Run" is the first app/activity you see when you hit the start button. if so, i would guess you are accidentally hitting that button. if t's a different app/activity (bike, for eg), then something weird is going on.

have you tried a hard reset/reboot (by holding down the power key for 30+ seconds)?

  • This can be either due to inadvertent button press or a malfunctioning button, which triggers by itself. In the latter case there might be no other option than replacing the watch, although as a last ditch effort you could try to fix it by giving the watch a 30 minute bath in lukewarm water with some mild detergent (e.g. soap) dissolved in it.

  • I am getting this issue as well

  • My 935 is about a year old. It started turning on GPS a few weeks ago. In some cases, it can't be turned off. I have to shut down the watch. In some cases, it will cycle back and forth between the green start triangle and the red stop square.

  • OP here. Thanks for your replies but I think I know what is happening now (its still happening!). I wear my watch on my right wrist. Sometimes if I inadvertently strap the watch on slightly tighter than usual, at some point in the day I will want to 'unstick' it from my wrist. I've noticed that I do this by bringing my left hand across and pull the watch down towards the slimmer part of my right wrist. Because the watch is on my right wrist this means that sometimes I accidently press the 'start' button, not realising until it buzzes in to low power mode. If I wore my watch on my left wrist as the majority do then I would be reversing this action and my right hand would come across to slide the watch down. This would more likely accidently hit the 'light' or 'down' button.

So long story short I'm hitting the start button accidentally because I wear the watch on my right wrist! Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.
