Forerunner 935 - VO2 Max Unchanging

I started using my FR935 in November and have been running outside using the running app with GPS on several times a week. After every run, my VO2 max reading is the exact same. I'm assuming the unchanging number is an error and not an accurate estimate based on my HR, pace, etc.

I have entered my weight on multiple occasions as it has fluctuated up and down.

Am I missing a step? Is there further set up that is required to get the estimate to be reflective of various workouts?

  • Another way of looking at it, is whether your expectation for 5k or 10k finishing time is changing, or are you aiming to maintain fitness and Vo2max. You might find using one of the Garmin training plans - especially an adaptive one with a sensibly challenging finish time will help - the plans include intervals, hill repeats and long runs. I started as a very occasional runner with a Vo2max of 42, peaked at 52 which equated to a just sub 22m 5k time, and have dropped a bit with some recent health issues but still running regularly.
