Alert of abnormal heartbeat even though I'm just sitting and reading

Does anyone else have a problem with the heart monitor making alerts about irregular heart beats? I am sitting and reading, no physical issues, but my watch would vibrate and beep that my heart is beating irregularly. The alert seems to occur randomly and usually when I'm relaxed like sitting, or even standing  meditatively washing the dishes. It has occured three times already in a period of a year.

  • My  very personal opinion is that the irregular HR warning in Garmin watches is utterly useless and causes more confusion than it helps. I had alerts going off at night while sleeping, alerts going off while watching TV and there never was any reason for that. I don't know the algorithm Garmin uses and what would trigger an alert but something is definetely wrong about it.

My suggestion is, turn it off. And if you feel that you might have some issues with your cardiac system DEFINETELY see a doctor and let him perform a medical ECG with you. If your doctor says, everything ok, don't worry about Garmin's alerts.
