How to update zones from a lactate threshold guided test?

I did a test today and got the following result.

Note that this is the first time I do the Garmin's lactate threshold guided run test.

Link to activity: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/4214029783?share_unique_id=2

I didn't get any new lactate threshold results. The latest one shown on the watch is from March 2018!

Since the activity finished like a regular run and I didn't get prompted for zones updates, I'm unclear whether the zones got updated or not

But pressing the "reset" button only changed the bottom value (max HR for zone 5), from 181 to 189.

All other values are strictly identical.

My goal here was to get some rough idea about my LT1 and LT2 values, then define my rFTHR and rFTPa thresholds to make a better training plan (following the book "the Triathlete's Training Bible" by Joe Friel.

But I'm now more perplexed than ever on what my run fitness is.

Can someone give me some hindsight here?

  • What is my lactate threshold following this activity?
  • What should my HR zones be?

If I can master this new tool, I'll then want to repeat this activity on a monthly basis.
I'll then make sure to spend 70% of my runs in zones 1&2 and 30% in zones 4&5 (well, I really want to spend 70% below LT1 (equivalent aerobic threshold) and 30% above LT2 (equivalent anaerobic threshold).

Thanks for your help!
