Forerunner 935 - record a single track for an activity of 12 consecutive days

Hi all,

I will do a 12 day ok trekking, is it possible to record one single track for 12 consecutive days?

If I stop the activity every single day,  and  i use  the function  "resume after" , the track remains saved ?

if anyone has had such an experience, they can help me.

thanks

  • Haven't done nearly that length of time, but "resume later" seems like it should work.  I think you cannot do any other activities in the middle (between "pausing" and "resuming") because pressing the start button after using the "resume later" brings you straight to your continue options.

With that amount of time I wonder about any bugs with file size, charging in between etc... but it feels like it should work or is the closest option?

Thanks.. that's what I think too !!  The doubt is for eventually bugs with file size.
Even if 12 days are many, I expect to do only 150km total of trekking...  in theory , the file size is  the actual activity track recorded. any confirm?
  • Depends when you are going but you could have a trial before you go. I wouldn’t risk it though. Save each day then, if you really do want a single track, see if you can join then using something from fitfilerepair tools. I did this with a three day 96km fast-pack mountain run a couple of years back.

  • In addition to using the "Resume Later" option, I would take a few USB battery packs and use them to recharge the watch at night.

You could muck around with UltraTrac mode and extended GPS modes, but in my opinion you lose too much accuracy and end up with incorrect distances for the activity.

Battery life on the 935 is already phenomenal, so you can have the best of both worlds with keeping 1s GPS recording (good accuracy) and recharging the watch every few days with a small battery pack.

    Have fun!

Thanks all for reply.  Very interesting,  if is possible   using to merge the different file with "fitfilerepair tools".

I can try and tell you

I would not chance it with 1 large file for 12 consecutive days. I did a 12 and 14 day backpacking trip last couple of years and split them into individual days, in case one of the files got corrupt, I wouldn't lose everything. Also, you can always combine them into one after the fact, not very hard to do.

I did a test with "Fitfilerepair tools" and it works.  I used only 3 file FIT small ,    I hope it works with the merge of  more large files.

But in order not to risk it, I will do a maximum of 2 days of registration in succession, or single registration.

  • To be certain there's no date time effects I would you look to record once each day.
