Incorrect heart rate in broadcast mode.

I noticed that when I use my 935 to broadcast my heart rate to my Edge 820, It takes anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes for the heart rate to be accurate.  It stays extremely low and then all of a sudden it corrects itself.

-This does not happen with any other exercise.
-There are no light leaks. I have tried this with the watch snug and covered with a sweatband.
-It is not the watch tightness.  There are no changes to tightness during the ride nor any changes to my hand positions.  Once it starts reading accurately, it continues to do so until I stop and rest.
-If I stop and let my heart rate return to a resting rate (<80bpm), it will again take time to read accurately.

It almost feels like its using some averaging algorithm to figure out if its measurement in the right zone.

  • I have the exact same issue and I can’t find a way to fix this. Not sure if this would help to start HR broadcast only a few minutes after the activity starts on the edge device??

Haven’t tried to completely bypass the edge and send cadence and speed data straight to the watch instead of the edge... I Guess that would be a solution but then no point have the edge

My watch is a FR935 and I have the edge 130

  • I have the same issue on the 945... has anyone found a fix?

  • There are two options to broadcast heart rate - Broadcast Heart Rate and Broadcast During Activity. If you are dong an activity choose Broadcast During Activity.

Broadcast during activity doesn't apply.  You are not doing an activity on the watch when you are using you Edge.

At this point, I cannot broadcast to my edge.  The heart rate is completely inaccurate. It stays around my resting heart rate. I cannot use it to send my HR to the edge.  I have to use a strap.  Sucks.

  • No, but you are doing an activity. If you want the heart rate from the activity you are doing to be broadcast from the watch then you need to select Broadcast During Activity and select an activity on the watch.

I guess you could do that and not save the activity at the end.  Otherwise, you would have conflicting activities uploaded for the same time period.  I will try it and see if the heart rate is more accurate.  Regardless this is probably not the intended use.  The fact that broadcast heart rate by itself is not able to get the correct heart rate is definitely a bug.

  • Got the exact same problem on my forerunner 955. it sucks. spending hundreds of $ for a watch thats not working correctly...
