Is there way to adjust current pace to real time as i only now get increments of 5 secs on Garmin 935 (update 13.3) I had real time before

ie on current Run current pace displays 5:05, 5:10, 4:55 and not anything in between such as 4:56, 4:57.etc...

  • Mine always shows 5sec increments when the watch shows my instant pace.

Maybe yours was show the average pace from the lap and now changes the data field.

It is real time, it's just that Garmin takes a rolling avg. and rounds it to increments of 5 seconds. You never had instant pace to the second. Pretty sure you had lap/step avg. as a data field before which is calculated to the unit position in seconds. If you think about it, real time pace displayed to the second will never be accurate as long as it's derived from GPS, so steps of 5s are perfectly fine.

Edit: corrected to unit position instead of fractions of a second.

  • I think the OP is referring to the pace per km in minutes:seconds not seconds and fractions of a second.

But yes, you are likely right as displaying pace in 5s blocks presents a more stable number. It's akin to stabilising power to 3s or 5s when using power meters on bikes.

Real time, flickering every second is a lot less useful.

You are right, no idea what made me think of fractions of a second, when it's always displayed in hh:mm:ss.
