Running power with Stryd

Hey All,

I plan my training with training peaks and bought a training plan that is based on power zones. I use Stryd footpod to measure power output.

unfortunately I cannot display any power zones on my Garmin watch while running because it seems, that the watch is looking for cycling power meters and the Stryd is not recognised as a power source.

Unfortunately even the zones from training peaks (from the workout builder) are not shown - so I have to memorise my zones for my training ...

Do you have any idea?

Paoloest You have to download the Stryd Power data field to use it while in the "run" activity, or download the Stryd device app and use that during your runs. The data field is much more useful as the device app is limited.
  • thanks a lot. I have already done so - but structured workout zones are not available in the run iq view :(

I misunderstood. I didn't realize the Training Peaks workout builder prevented this.

I'm having the same problem - it gets difficult when you have a structured workout with many different interval sets that cover several zones.  Hard to memorize the entire workout. any luck yet?

  • www.vermail.nl/.../See my Datarun premium datafield for a solution. It can display the target power and alert when out of the zone. Is comes with a spreadsheet to set up the power zones

  • Same issue here with my Forerunner 935 and Stryd footpod... Can display power on the Garmin data screens but it does not display power on the workout data screen... Stryd just released a new app for Garmin watches (https://blog.stryd.com/2020/04/02/stryd-connect-iq-power-based-workouts-app/) which I downloaded and used today. it works great, but you need to create the workout in the Stryd app in your watch... Eventually, Stryd will make it such that you can create the workout using the Stryd phone app and eventually, Stryd will make it so you can import the workout from Today's Plan or Training Peaks and other workout platforms...

Would be really nice if Garmin just updated their running workout data screen so it reads power from whatever power-based device is connected... Like it does for cycling workouts...

  • Dear Garmin customers who own a Garmin + Stryd and are waiting since years on the fact that garmin makes possible to train on power based interval. I suggest you buy a Coros watch. Coros has a natively full integration of the stryd sensor... you can plan workouts based on power zones.

    Garmin, wake up please !
