Why just 5 custom alerts per workout?

Hello!
Is it possible to overcome the limitation of five custom event alerts somehow (maybe some app or something) ? I need to add 8-10 alert messages based on distance on my longer distance races (Ultra distance) . I was very sad to see that there was a limit of just five custom alerts. The repeat function will not work because I need the alerts at custom distances.

Thanks!
  • Describe your requirements precisely. Perhaps a Workout in combination with Alerts will meet your requirements alongside proximity alerts for waypoint or a Course.

I need a message (not the same message) as close as possible at
    6km
    25km
    39km
    54km
    68km
    72km
    89km

How do I add location at the given distance? Im not 100% sure of the exact coordinate
  • Sounds like the kind of thing Connect IQ was invented for.
  • Well, you can have a 'no message' option by creating a Workout or for a 'with message' option create a Course and add Course Points. As you mention racing I presume you have a planned course? Finally using Basecamp you can creation Locations and set proximity alerts.

Thanks, that are som really good workarounds! The only downside is that using a course is draining extra battery. Which can be an issue for 15-20 h activities.
  • I'd opt for a custom workout with laps set to the difference in distances for each leg. You'll then get a lap buzz at each distance you want. Crude, and maybe wont be accurate to your current location depending on GPS etc, but as good as you'll get without mapping out a course.
I have a similar requirement for aid stations during my first 100k in August - but I'm not worried about battery life (can charge on the go if I REALLY have to) so will navigate a course.
