White/blank screen appears when clicking the Start button

Hi,

I' experiencing this strange bug that makes the entire screen to appear white/blank/litup instead of going to the activities menu after clicking the "start/stop" button. I then need tp click the back button and also couple of random buttons and then when I click the start button it goes to the activities menu
Anyone else is experiencing this issue?

All the apps and device firmwares are up to date!
  • This almost sounds like you have one favourite activity which has somehow gotten corrupted. (I saw something like this happen a few times, especially when you reset the watch the factory.)

    - When you have the weird white screen, try holding UP for the menu and see what happens. Do you get a menu where the first item is "Remove from Favorites"? If so, select that choice and see if it fixes the problem.

Also, what happens when you press UP or DOWN on the weird white screen?

    If that doesn't work:

    - Try turning it off and on (what's sometimes referred to as a "soft reset" here), by using the controls menu:
Hold Light for a couple of seconds until the menu appears, select the Power icon and press Start. After it turns off, hold Light to turn it on again.

    If that doesn't work:
    - Try turning it off completely and on again (what these forums sometimes call a "hard reset", although confusingly, "hard reset" means something else to many people)
Hold Light for several seconds until the watch turns off.
Hold Light to turn it on again.
In this case, your clock will likely be out of sync. One way to fix that is to go outside and get a GPS fix.

    - If that doesn't work, you may wish to contact "][email protected].

    - If that doesn't work, you may need to reset your watch settings to factory defaults. (What some people refer to as "master reset" and others, confusingly, refer to as "hard reset").

You can back up / restore all your apps, app settings, sport settings and activities by following this guide:
    https://forums.garmin.com/forum/into...00#post1282900

You will lose your wi-fi settings, bluetooth pairings, and most non-sport-specific settings. You'll also lose totals, FirstBeat performance metrics and activity tracking stats. If you use Physio TrueUp, you may be able to sync FirstBeat metrics back afterwards, although I haven't tested this.

Use this procedure to actually perform the reset to default settings:

  • hi,

did you setup the start/stop button as hotkey linked with flashlight ?

yes! I think you got the issue right... lemme chk if now I face the white screen.. !!!!
  • Hmm, very sorry for the irrelevant wall o' text in that case. I thought the flashlight explanation made the most sense, except the hotkey is only supposed to work when you hold start, not when you click it.

So it sounds to me like there might be another problem, like maybe your START key is stuck? You may want to actually play with the HOLD Start hotkey to verify this is the case.

If your START key is stuck, you may want to contact product.support@garmin. com about that. I find Garmin is really good about replacing faulty/broken hardware most of the time, although I've only ever had accessories replaced, not watches.
