Resetting my performance/FirstBeat stats?

I've been diagnosed with atril fibrillation and am going in for a cather ablation in 2 weeks. After that I'd like to reset all my performance stats/ HR zones etc as they will have been over reading with my condition.

Does anyone know if it's possible to reset just my performance stats like VO2, lactate threshold etc without doing a full watch reset??

thanks,

Greg

Your performance stats will slowly adapt anyway.
  • My MaxHR isn't going to go down inside Garmin Connect, when reality it should be lower than it is currently, and I assume that then affects all sorts of other metrics. Perhaps dropping it to something like 100 would work and it'd then "auto detect" the real max HR over the coming weeks/months as I recover and start training??
  • % of maxHR is a key input into many metrics, and as your post-ablation maxHR is going to be an unknown, this is a bit of a problem.

Lowering your maxHR and using autodetect is a good idea, but 100 sounds too low. I am also assuming that your cardiologist will only want you doing easy efforts for a few weeks/months? so you may not be getting close to your new maxHR (or even LTHR) for a while anyway.

Perhaps look at what pace zone 1/zone 2 efforts currently involve, and then look at what this pace gives you in terms of HR post-ablation. This might enable you to predict your new maxHR to within +/- 10 bpm, and then fine tune things from there.

Also, you may want to log your post-ablation runs with the "Trail Run" app for a while, as "Trail Runs" do not impact the VO2Max calculation. This will avoid screwing too much with your fitness/load/etc estimates while you sort out new HR datapoints.
