Temperature and altitude have stopped working

For the last 2 days my run temperature has been 98 degrees and my elevation is picked up (I presume from satellites?) at the start of the run but then the watch records no change during the run - I've tried a hard reset (no joy and all the hassle of reconnecting sensors, WiFi networks and workouts onto the watch) any one have any easy fixes on this one before I send it back ????????
  • Nope. Chances are you have a hardware problem. Try soaking the device in warm soapy water. If that fails contact support.
  • Thanks Philip - tried that and no joy - will give support a go :(

yep hardware fault - had mine swapped just after Christmas, looking to me like a common problem this
  • Frankly I'm raging having contacted "support" it seems despite it being a 'known' fault I have to ship my unit back to them before they will issue a new one and to add insult to injury I have to pay for shipping and for the bill for insuring a not fit for purpose watch being shipped. I bought the watch, upgrading from a fenix 3, because I'm doing a 100 mile ultra on the 1st of Feb and liked the reduced size and weight offered by the 935. Now won't be wearing the watch for my race (clearly) and seriously regretting parting with my hard earned pennies!!! Seriously shoddy service in my opinion!!

I returned mine on the Monday and received the new one on Friday - couldn't really fault the service. I did have to pay return postage but didn't mind too much. Just use your watch on 1st of Feb and return after, obviously you wont get altitude but at least you'll get mileage/pace etc. Or try and replace from the shop you bought it from if it wasn't direct from garmin.

Good luck with 100 miler :)

  • If you are in the EU, there is a good chance that the seller will have to pay the return postage.

When I have warranty repairs on my Garmin watches, I notice the seller, he forwards me a prepaid address label, and I then send the watch to Garmin who immediately (within a few minutes, according to their log) sends another watch to me. Works nicely.
  • I understand you being upset about having to return it. However, since the main metrics - pace, distance, are not affected, could you not hold off until after the event?
  • For me altitude is one of the main metrics? I wouldn't consider buying a watch that didn't have that function.

@Whitty, thanks - it incenses me that I'm expected to foot the bill for shipping their shoddy product back to them, think it should you too and to discover that actually the watch I get in return wouldn't even be a new one. I have contacted the seller and am hoping they will replace it with a new one.
