Recommended HR Chest Strap

Afternoon all.

I was wondering if anyone could provide me with some advice of the best HR chest monitor to purchase ?
I have a 935 but I've found sometimes the heart rate on it can jump a bit so was thinking of purchasing a HR Chest strap to wear whilst running. Ive been reading about the Garmin HRM-Run and was just wondering about peoples opinions ? Thanks in advance.
  • ...but there are no run dynamics with that particular model.
  • I don't think the poster cared about run dynamics from the get-go. They were using the watch with just the OHRM from the start, so all it looks like is they just wanted accurate HR and a comfy band.
  • I can't find one thing regarding hrm run vs hrm tri: the materials.

I had problems with the electrods costing, they opened up on my hrm run red one (after about 1.5 years).

Now I'm asking if these parts on the Hrm Tri are the same, identical, of the Hrm run or maybe they are better assembled and could last longer?

  • They look the same. The difference between the Run and Tri versions is the Store-and-Forward capabilities for HR data (eg. whilst swimming).

  • I just got a Polar H10 and I'm wondering why my Forerunner 245 Music won't receive Advanced Running Dynamics.
Will those values be exclusively provided by a Garmin HRM like the Run or TRI?

  • As far as I know, those metrics are indeed only provided by HRM-Run/Tri. But you can use a separate Running Dynamics pod: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/561205

I use a basic Garmin first generation HRM (works the best for me) and the RD pod, it works great. Advantage of the RD pod is that you also have the extra metrics when you only use the built-in optical HRM.

BTW I don't think you can transfer session heart rate stored in the H10 directly to a Garmin device (as you can do with HRM-Tri and HRM-Swim).
