Has anyone figured this yet? I’m having the same issues.
I find them annoying too - particularly on a short interval where it takes up the whole screen, so I can't see how to change it.
What I do is to not set an intensity target at all, but rather add a note in the workout about what my target intensity for that interval should be too.
Thanks for submitting the request - in the last two years I haven't seen it... did you find a way to turn it off?
This is also preventing me from using the Training Peaks workouts my coach has done for me. This is completely nuts... I was hoping someone would have found a solution by now or Garmin would have resolved the issue. For now, I just rely on the Intervals function on my watch instead of the workout plans.
I emailed TrainingPeaks support and here is their reply:
Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately, there is no way to disable the pace alerts at this time. This is a limitation with Garmin devices and we do not have any control over this functionality.
However, I can tell you that pace will not show on the device the workout is synced to when you use RPE. I often use this on my workouts because I hate that I cannot disable alerts on my Garmin when I am outside of the pace zones, so this is a nice workaround since I know my goal paces.
I have not yet tried it but it makes sense. I just have to figure out how the scale of 1-10 RPE maps to my current pace range.
