935 - Garmin Connect Bluetooth Issues

Looked around but couldn’t find a similar topic. I’ve got an issue with my 935 and IOS Connect App losing connectivity with each other. This happens when I disable bluetooth on the iPhone. Once I enable Bluetooth, the phone shows it’s connected to the 935 (under Bluetooth settings) , the watch shows that it’s connected to the phone, however the app shows the watch as not connected. No amount of turning off/reconnecting bluetooth on the phone or the watch gets it to reconnect on the app. Deleting and the reinstalling the Connect app on the phone resolves the issue every time. I can reliably recreate this issue - anyone else having this problem?

Edit - Currently running 10.10 on the 935 and the most current IOS App.
  • What version of iOS are you running, and what version of Garmin Connect Mobile is it 4.10?

  • iOS 11.4.1
    Connect 4.10.0.15
  • Why do you disable BT on the iPhone? It draws very little power so you keep it connected.
  • Different situations - getting in a car with the family and my phone has priority on the car radio and someone else wants it , switching AirPods to a different device, troubleshooting another BT device connection etc. Have never turned it off to save power but have had going to Airplane mode disable it as well (though that isn’t consistent). It’s not something I do routinely , but when I do , I inevitably then have to reinstall Garmin Connect.
  • Have you tried rebooting the phone? That might be simpler than reinstalling the app
  • I can’t recall if I tried that or not - will try next time, thanks for the suggestion.
  • Other than that you can work around the other times you need to turn off the BT. For instance in my car it allows you to select which phone to use that is connected, is there a setting for that on your car? Also, I know its not the cheapest option but sharing the airpods can be avoided by buying some more headphones. It would be interesting to hear from others if they turn off the BT. I never do.

  • Me neither BT always on. When there's more than one phone connected driver chooses, unless my wife is there then I do as I am told! Switching AirPods between devices is no issue as long as they have been paired to each device.

I have disconnect issues with 935 and iPhone but that's usually been fixed with a watch or app restart or both. Nothing I've ever worried about because a) It doesn't happen often and b) It's a trivial issue in the scheme of things.

I sometimes have this issue and I can fix it when I close GCM on the iPhone -- also in the background. Most of the times it find my FR935 when I reopen the app. In rare cases I have to repeat this a second time.
