sync with gps

I don't know, another bug, special garmin logic or..
Sync with gps doesn't work when setting the time is "manual". I do not use and do not want auto sync. I select in controls (or settings, or hot keys) "sync with gps" manually - watch says this is done, but time doesn't updated. And after I change setting - "auto" - sync with gps is successful and time is updated. This is inadequate and illogical. I try to set up time by manually select sync with gps. I open manual and: You can also manually sync the time with GPS when you change time zones, and to update for daylight saving time.

of course, I can use "auto" always, but this is buggy function:
- watch can sync with phone - I catch bug when watch late with this option (up to 15minutes).
- in travels my phone can be in home time zone, watch in current time zone - sync brakes it.
- I get incorrect time zone from gps in some location. for example in Altai Mounties and FR920 year ago. And do not want see incorrect time after start activity.

more than 100 days, garmin guys cant answer on this question....
  • Can you explain why you do not just set the time automatically?
  • I’m unsure what exactly what you’re problem is. We’ve had our 935s since July last year. Neither of us have had any problems with leaving the setting to Auto. TIme will adjust when you get a GPS signal. When I fly between Aus and NZ, the first thing I do on landing is to get a GPS fix. As soon as that happens the time is updated. Although I’ve never checked, I assume the time zone would also be updated following a sync with the mobile through Garmin Connect Mobile too.

I can’t see any reason to set to manual.

for beginning - I have letter from local support - this is bug. I had 920 there manual works fine. You have user guide and now watch works not like expected.
You guys are going to speculate...
I have case there I have to use manual. When I drive to another time zone and I'd like to see local time on watch. If auto is on - I choose set up time by gps, but then, after some time, watch silent return to my home time because this is phone time. "premium" gps watch just stupid phone mirror.

You can't but what it means? There is optional and user guide allow this
May be you cell carrier update time on you phone and watch does not return to home time. Some carriers don't send this info and I bought watch not for see time from phone.

It sounds as if the problem is with your phone. If I understand correctly, when you enter a different time zone your phone isn't updating to the correct time. So when you sync the watch, it's going back to the time on the phone. If this is correct, why isn't your phone displaying the correct time? I don't believe this is a bug. This is from the support website.

Garmin watches can receive their time information from a few different sources:
    • Garmin Connect App via a smartphone
    • Garmin Express via a personal computer
    • GPS Satellites
    • Manual input by user
So, even though you update the time manually or with GPS, as soon as you use Garmin Connect with your phone, it's going to update the time again, with the smartphone time.

watch works not like expected - this is problem with your phone...
TMK17 - Why do you ask me about phone? You are from phone support?

    I can't and I don't want.
When I drive car I cant change time on the phone, but it easy on watch. I don't want because I bought gps watch to see time on watch.

Actually, I do work for a major communications company and have 35 years of experience with telephany, radio, and satellite communications. I'm familiar how cellular phones work in North America and I've never heard of a carrier that doesn't update time zones either through cell towers or GPS. Maybe it's different where you are from. Anyway, the four ways Garmin utilizes to update time is by design and it's not a bug. The problem is when you're watch is connected to your phone, the phone time overrides the manual or GPS time setting you used. My suggestion is to contact your carrier and find out why the phone time isn't updating the time when you enter different zones. If for some reason you can't get the phone to update time, there are two options you can use. The first is to manually change the time on the phone. Secondly and least preferred is to keep the watch disconnected from the phone. Anyway, I hope I was able to provide you with a little help or information.
