unrealistic best paces or speed. and daily steps

Hello
i see an abnormal behaviour with garmin forerunner 935.. I use footpod for pace which is ant+ but not a garmin one.

in activities i see the max speed of 147km/h.....

even if it is a bug on the footpod it is so unreal i am actually run at 0;24 min/km that garmin should scrap that and ignore it. don't you think?

see the activity here:
https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/2907747679 it is not the first time it happens..

also
the steps target are just not reacheable. I am training for a marathon.. and currenly i have daily targets on 17-18000 per day because the days of the long runs i do 25-30 thousands.. I will need to run/walk at least 15k per day in order to reach the daily steps goals.. I did not have this issue with my previous garmin (FR630)

per instance yesterday I did a interval based on the training plans on garmin connect i ran a bit more of 10 k and only made 13000 steps to reach the daily goal of 16500 was just not possible I also need to rest you know..

thanks alot for your input
  • Replace battery on footpod
  • When you look closely at your pace graph, then you can see that the speed spike came at the very end of the activity. Did you do anything unusual at the end? Like getting indoors?

And you are aware that you can set your own custom step goal if the automatic goal does not suit you, right?

fair enough! i might have gone indoors but it is a footpod does not care about outdoors or indoors
what about this one of today.. outdoors around a track... and it happens again 224km/h!!!.. the battery does not seem drained and why would a low battery do that.. It never did on the 630.

the automatic goal suit me it challenges me but it should take into account my training load.. sometimes it is not possible even after training to reach it and If i put it lower it does not raise from where I put it.
  • Perhaps you’ll also get better answers if you post this in the 235 forum?

i see the confusion but i have a 935 not a 235.. and if you check the activities you see the watch is a 935. I edited my first post there was indeed a typo..
  • just to add random to crazy behavior, my 935 show fireworks of reached daily steps target at... 2/3 or less than half of the target. every day.

  • That's also my case. I'm just walking flat street, and suddenly fireworks for climbing 10 floors. More funny though are the altimeter readings at morning: it looks like while sleeping in bed, one night I climbed 100 meters, and another night I descended 50 under the sea level...

The footpod doesn't care indeed, but are you sure that you set the footpod as pace source? Because I think the default setting is "footpod pace when GPS signal not available, and GPS pace otherwise".

the footpod is set to speed= always, distance= always, now is the watch not honouring this? there is no way to confirm that based on the fit file?
i changed the battery and it is still happening.

I am thinking of investing in a stryd and just do power training

It should. But perhaps there is a more convoluted logic behind this. I know that this is of little help, but I run with a footpod (pace=always, distance=gps), and never encounter such issues, even when entering a tunnel or a building where GPS is not available.

there is no way to confirm that based on the fit file?

I don't know. Might not be that simple.
