OH1 HR sensor issue.

I have my 935 since April 2018.
For interval training and bike session I use a Polar OH1 sensor that follow very well my heart rate (very similar to a chest sensor)
But since I have updated the watch to the firmware 9.1, during running session the heart rate freezes after a certain period of time (it is never the same). So I have to turn off and turn ON the sensor in order to retrieve my hear rate but it can freeze again after some minutes..
I have this problem only with running activities. On bike I have no issue even after 4 hours...
The sensor worked very well on 8.0 & 8.99 FW. I have tried also all the other firmware (9.1 , 9.2.. 9.73) but the issue is still there ... I have reuse the sensor for running session with my Polar V800 without any issue... I have tried also to downgrade the firmware to 8.0 & 8.99 but the bug is still there..

So I would like to know, if :
- I'm the only one who uses the OH1 sensor (which is perfect when that works)?
- If someone else have the same issue?

Honestly I feel very disapointed with this watch because it is very buggy : OH1 sensor issue, Elevation issue, several reboots during activities, Instant pace & GPS trace no consistent (compare to the Polar V800)...

Hi Laumaug,

How does the heart rate values from the watch compare to the OH1? And how does the OH1 readings compare to a heart rate strap? I'm curious watch ohr to band ohr, are the band values noticeably more accurate?

Have you reached out to Garmin an asked them? Here is a link to another Garmin Forum where the same problems is going on with the Edge 1030 and the OH1 with no resolution.

Maybe buy a cheap old garmin hrm on Amazon for $20 bucks till the new Polar Vantage comes out, then sell the 935 to subsidize the purchase.

Hi! I have the same problem but only if I connect the OH1 plus Garmin Running Dynamics pod simultaneously. If only the OH1 everything works great. No solution till now. You can see my topic about this here:

So I confirm that the problem is due to the RD pod : Yesterday I have ran during 2h15 without any issue... So now for all my interval trainings and races I will not use the RD pod. But honestly the data provided are not usefull for me.

From my point of the data provided byt the OH1 are reliable. The heart rate follows well the accelerations. Maybe not as a chest strap, but confort is not comparable and when you start to make sport without the chest strap it si very difficult to rvert back.

The HR from the watch are totally out when I change the rythm.

OK, I can also reproduce this problem. The running POD and the OH1 simply don't like each other - at least not on the Forerunner 935. I've tried to inform the support about this bug but they simply do not care since the OH1 is not a Garmin product. Surprise.... Does anybody has a different Garmin Chest Strap without running dynamics? I somehow expect that the same problem will occur in combination with any external HRM, the Forerunner 935 and the RD Pod. But I don't have the hardware to prove it...

Same here, the same issue with the Fenix 5, POD and OH1 used simultaneously. At random intervalls the OH1 doesnt update anymore. Switching off/on resolves it until next time. It is very disappointing Garmin does nothing about it. I was eyeing a Fenix 6, but maybe a Coros Apex is the better choice.
