swimming pool bad lap counting?

someone noticed a bad pool count (25m pool) that show a lot more pool/meters than expected? (e.g. 500m instead of 300m real)? happened twice with fw 9.72b, never happened before. when i pause after warm up, all counting reverse to ok (e.g. show 500m during swim, revert to 300m when stop during pause). will do some test asap with fw 9.73b.
  • Something definitely not right with lap swimming on FW 9.73.

Could have sworn it said I'd done something like 90 lengths when I'd done around 50. When I did stop to properly check, it said I'd done 56 lengths so did another 4 to end on 60 lengths @ 25m / 1500m.

Saved activity showed as 29:16 mins total / 1500m, ave pace 1:57, best pace 1:32 and flashed up 4 new records.

Checked Personal Records on GCM and the new 'records' from tonight's swim included 100m in 0:23 (alas I accidentally declined it before screenshotting) and 400m in 4:23 (previously 7:31)

However the saved activity doesn't reflect any of these times - how can best pace for the activity be 1:32 if the same activity included a 100m in 0.23?

Full activity here, will log with support......

  • yes, same behavior with 9.73b. pool swim is officially screwed up :/
  • Are you using Swim HRM? I am, and have noticed this in the 9.73 release notes:
    • Fixed an issue causing HR data for pool swim activities to be graphed incorrectly in Garmin Connect
Can't see how this would explain the lap issues and other random behaviour I've seen, but then again can't see how something that wasn't broken before is broken now.
  • Same exact problem with FW 9.73. Lap swimming has gone completely bonkers. Two swims thus far and same issue in each.
  • Are you using Swim HRM?

yes. a friend of mine is using 935 + HRM Swim and no pool problems with fw 9.73b. adding randomness to crazy behavior :D

  • Another one with the crazy records during a recovery swim today. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/2891822995
Apparently I did 100yds in 20 seconds! I also got a world record in the 500yd freestyle at 3:53. I never look at these records, but noticed that there a number of other erroneous records back in April 2018 and Dec 2017. I'm not sure if those were betas as well. ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1381853.jpg

My lap counts seem alright, but I had the same issue with the records. I did 100yards in 18 seconds apparently.

    Dang, you beat me!
  • I could only manage 23 seconds for my 100m :(

Yes I confirm extremely bad counting on 9.73 b. It is like this:
When I start it seems to be good. Few first swim pool lenghts are ok,but suddenly when watch shows 400 m after next turn it is 750...and during 500 swim it accurs couple of times. At the end when activity stops it shows onother distance , maybe correct or not.I guess that due to that jumps personal records are created unreasonably.
So whole swimming is broken! OWS+POOL SWIM.
