Forerunner 935 Public Beta Version 9.72 Now Available!

Beta Software Version 9.72 is now available. Full change log and installation instructions can be found here.

[h=4]Changes made from version 9.70 to 9.72:[/h]

Added support for Connect IQ SDK v3.0.
Improvements to pool swim distance accuracy.
Fixed a rare issue which could cause the watch to restart at the end of certain workouts.
Fixed an issue where the abnormal heart rate alert would auto-dismiss after 30 seconds.
Improved GPS track accuracy for Open Water swimming activities.

[h=2]Installation Instructions[/h]

Connect your Forerunner 935 to your computer using the USB cable.
Download and unzip Forerunner935_972Beta.zip. Place the GUPDATE.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder of your device's internal storage drive.
Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the watch, and wait for the update to finish.
If you would like to revert to the last public release software, follow the above steps but place the GUPDATE-970.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder.. Rename GUPDATE-970.GCD to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device. NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.

Thanks for this Joey. Couple of questions.

1. I know it's not listed in the changes but are you aware if the cadence issue (here and here) has been addressed in this beta?
2. Typically, how long is there between beta and public release?

Now that they have pushed this beta to the F5x/F5/F5s, and now the FR935, that tells me the CIQ3 is not far from final release. While there is not set time between beta and public release, I would suspect this one won't stay in beta to long.

Any news on elevation gain issue? I hope this is fixed even if not mentioned in the changelog...

Open water swimming is still not working. Swam 1900m and it logged 586m. I'll send the fit file to the beta team.

what is your stroke style? if you're doing breaststroke it will never be accurate as your wrist will be most of the time under the water...

tsofrom, it was all frontcrawl. It has worked fine in the past, on earlier firmware levels.

I did 3 laps of a 650m lake. It seems like it stopped recording GPS part way through the first lap and only picked it up again as I was leaving the lake. All other data (stroke rate, heart rate, etc) was recorded correctly.

It was part of a multi-sport and I use GPS+Glonass

how did you get HR recorded on an Open Water swim?

I would guess with an HRM-Swim or HRM-tri. Either will record and sync with the watch when the swim is saved.
