Battery drain after update to 9.6

Hey folks,

I noticed an increase of >100% in battery usage after update to version 9.60. Before update, I was using about 0,25-0,3%/hour. After update it is at 0,6-0,7%/hour. My usage pattern did not change, am recording daily activities, mainly Strength training and a few runs, always about the same time in length.

Only thing I did not test yet is restoring factory settings to see if it goes away - obviously want to avoid losing all my stored data.

Does anybody else notice this?
  • Same here. Both with 9.10 and 9.60. A reboot (pressing and holding Light-Button for 15 seconds) fixed it for me.

Rebootet via shut-down over quick menue, did nothing for me. Will try the long-press method and report back.
  • Hi! Having the same issue here, i was using it without problems until the upgrade. Now the battery doesn't last a day. It draining even when the watch is off. what should i do?

Holding Light-Button for 15 seconds restart did fix it for me, too. For some reason shutdown over menue didn't.
  • Slugly - could you provide some details on this app.I could not find it

  • I'm definitely seeing poorer battery on 9.6. I've restarted my watch, but with no improvement. Hopefully a format tweak will sort it. Battery life is a huge plus for me on the 935 - don't spoil it garmin!!
  • Have you reset as in post #5 above? Have you added anything that could be drawing current? Mine is 'clean' and I see no obvious difference.
  • Philip - yes - rebooted as per #5; holding down the power button and doing a full reboot. Nothing else changed on the watch other than using Galileo in the GPS options. A 90 min run this morning resulted in avg of 8% an hour battery drain. This was about 5% before the 9.6 update.
  • I've had mine on since I took it off charge yesterday afternoon, ran for an hour this afternoon with GPS+Galileo and used ~5%. Not sure if that proves anything.
  • Seeing similar, can't quantify exactly battery life figures pre 9.6 but I know a charge was lasting a lot longer than it currently is. Just did a 30 min run with HRM-Tri / GPS & GLONASS, 6% decrease in battery, MyBattery's showing 0.64% per hr drain. Did a 'hold button for 15 seconds' reset the other day, has made no difference.

No major problem, be good to see it sorted though.
