Quick fit band

Hi. I've tried a garmin quick fit band from fenix 5 on the 935 and found it a bit uncomfortable. It's stiff on the side by the quick fit mechanism and less stretchy, don't think the watch sits that well with original QF bands. Has anybody found some non original QF bands that are more comfortable and lets the watch sit as good as the original bands that comes with the 935?
  • I've been using the band linked below sourced from Amazon with good results. I've not tried a Garmin QF band, so can't comment on direct comparison but it does sit a bit different to the original non-QF band. The top section (with the buckle) is longer than the original band, so that moves the buckle point around the wrist just a bit. I don't notice any issue with stiffness due to the pin latch, and the band itself is more pliable than the original band. For the cost, you can give it a try and not feel like you have a lot invested.

In my opinion, the band on the Fenix 5 is not as comfortable as the band on the FR935. The FR935 band is much more flexible. I suspect the band linked above is similar in flexibility.

  • I've checked out the link now and it actually seems like there is a difference on the bands depending on color. Some of theme looked quite thick and stiff around the QF area like the original garmins, and others seemed thinner. There was also a different clasp on them varying by color. Anyway i have ordered a couple of "the thinner" ones judging by pictures. Will see if it's a waste of money in 10-15 days :) (living in Norway)
  • I've been using the 935 yellow QF band for a wee while now. Feels fine to me. Did you try a 935 QF band on your 935?
  • I think the primary difference that you are seeing is that some of the colors are rendered showing the outside of the band (with the textured sections) and some showing the inside (showing the pin latch mechanism). I do see the variance in the clasp as well, but think that is likely just a different render. I have the red one for what it is worth and it is quite flexible.

Do the screws rust? I have heard reviewers note that they are not stainless like the Garmin bands.
  • The screws on the pin latch mechanism? I have been using the band for about 3 weeks at this point with no signs of rust. I only take it off to put on the QR kit on the bike.

    Not in my experience.
  • How long have you been using the quickfit band? They can be a bit stiff in the beginning but flex pretty fast imo (I believe I was used to it within 2 days or so).. And nope, no rusting screws here.

Aftermarket/other brands bands are more flexible in my experience and although I don't have issues with mine they ARE less sturdy (plenty reports of ppl where the aftermarket bands are springing open/loose etc) so take that into account. The garmin bands ARE overpriced imo, but very decent/

I am using a 3rd party quick release band on my 935 and it has been fine so far, with no rust seen and the mechanism on each oart of the strap is still very snappy. The bands in themselves are probably very cheap to produce. I would also suspect the massive mark up on the garmin band does not represent a similar ramp up in quality over the £10 strap off Amazon. You are merely paying for the branding.
