I am using the widget Train as one for my traing. Up till now I´ve had my Stryd set to Speed=Always and Distance=Indoors and everything has worked out fine. Because of bad GPS data during trail runs lately I changed Distance to Always. In the workout summary everthing looks OK, but it doesn't update the training load. Does anyone know what the problem is?
I think VO2Max and certain related metrics only get updated when you run with GPS. For example, when your watch is new, the Training Status widget tells you to run outdoors a few times. The idea is that the pace from wrist or footpod has not been considered reliable enough, in the past, and they haven’t made an exception for Stryd, I guess.
You don't get a VO2 max calculated if you are using the Trail Run app, or when using a treadmill. You need to use the Run app for this. The training load does increase when doing a treadmill run, but I'm not 100% sure about the Trail Run.
training load does get updated with the trail run app. I do at least one long trail run a week using the app and a garmin foot pod and it updates fine for me.
I use the same setup too, without any issue. I don't see how the TrainAsOne widget could affect TL. Afterall, its only function is to download workouts from their website. The widget does nothing during an activity.
And your VO2 max has updated in the last 4 runs? What I'm getting at is I know TL updates regardless of whether or not you have Distance = always from the Stryd -- I'm more curious about VO2 max though. There are more restrictions on what types of workouts can affect V02 max and after reading this discussion I've realized that my VO2 max hasn't moved since I've started getting distance from the footpod (in addition to pace).
