Calorie Counting with Lose It or MyFitnessPal on iPhone and in general

I'd like to use my ForeRunner to more accurately track calories. I really like how on the watch widget I can see calories burned, both active and resting. This gives me a great daily total that I need to eat less than (of course, the accuracy is uncertain, but at least its a target to shoot for). The trouble is, there doesn't seem to be a way to get this data to Garmin Connect, let alone a calorie tracking program.

I've been using Lose It for a while now to track calories, and I much prefer its interface to MyFitnessPal. The only thing that seems to sync to either of these is active workouts. I'd like it to also share my calories burned on my daily bike commute, or energy burned walking around a clients property, or playing with my daughter, or whatever... none of which I really don't want to bother with tracking as an "activity".

And, of course there are a lot of errors with the activities that do transfer, much of this may be due to also trying to integrate with Apple Health and Strava.

Has anyone navigated this mine field and come out on the other side with a solution?
