Best run settings for outdoor?

Just got a replacement 935, going thru various settings.

Am I correct in thinking I should have GPS & Glosnass on and SMART recording off to try and get the most accurate pace whilst running outside?

Thanks,

Greg
  • Greg,

in case you live in Alaska or Canada you can turn GPS & Glonass on. In case you live somewhere more to the south, you can turn Glonass off.

You could turn SMART recording off, as well. Though, I figured out that SMART recording works well.

So if your activities are not to long and you sync your watch quiet frequently it shouldn't be a problem to use the every second recording.

    Best regards

  • Glonass could help in some challenging environments, but usually doesn't make much difference. Smart recording should have no impact on instant pace accuracy, as it affects only storage and not measurement.
  • The recommendation is to always use 1 second recording for the most accurate records possible. There is plenty of space on the watch for your run data. Smart recording just throws away data.

As for turning GLONASS on or off, as mentioned depends where you live. You'll have to try it for yourself and see. I don't use it on my 935, but I do on my Edge 520.

Is smart recording vs every second recording for activities only, or for all day HR also?
  • Smart/1 sec recording is for activities specifically. HR will likely be sampling at more frequent intervals due to variations in individual heart rates.
