RHR and Stress levels higher since V7.60

Coincident with the last update my data shows a marked increase in resting HR and daily stress levels. I cannot rule out changes in my life and body that may be causing this, but from a subjective viewpoint, I feel unchanged. I cannot explain theses deviations from months of pretty constant readings, and want to know if anybody else has seen anything similar.
My previous average daily stress level was between 11-15, and now it is in the range 20-35. My average RHR has always been in a tight band 48-51, and is now suddenly in 51-56. Obviously it has only been a few days since the last S/W roll-out.
  • Did you change wearing the watch at night maybe? There are 2 ways the RHR is determined: if worn at night and > 4 hours of sleep are detected, the average HR during the detected sleep time is used. Otherwise the lowest HR during a short interval (1 minute? not sure exactly) during the daytime is used. Typically the day-RHR value will be lower.

    I have the same.
    Something's wrong.

  • Twinaxx: I have always worn my watch 24/7, no changes there. I've gotten used to the standard Garmin RHR algorithms and results, and that is why I've now flagged this.
  • Can't tell myself if there is a difference in RHR since 7.60 (there is too much variability in my RHR to see a trend). 7.60 changed some settings as has been mentioned on this forum, perhaps RHR calculation did indeed change.
  • i've been experiencing the same issues with the stress scores; not so much with the heart rate values.
Sleeping values were in the mid-teens. While sitting, reading, watching tv they would be below 25.
Now, it's not unusual to get bedtime values in the 25-35 range. Appears to be fewer rest-readings during the day, even while sitting and relaxed.
Wear the 935 the same as I always have. Haven't changed my routine in any significant way. No change in the way I feel.
  • So, prior to 7.60 I found my daily RHR to be really high (in the app and in on the main page), like 10-15 bpm higher than what it has traditionally been (38-42). I wear the watch 24/7, I have always worn it 24/7. This was around when they had the change over in measuring it for people that took it off at night vs the 24/7 people. Didn't make sense for me since I wear it 24/7 that the number would skew higher; but it did.

That was until I went to the calendar within the app. For me, when I highlight the day i'm currently in all the current day metrics are there....including the current day HR range. You know what I found? The RHR there was displaying a much lower number--like what it always has. So from what I could tell on the main screen the RHR there seems to be the RHR from when I woke (to current) and the one in the calendar is considering both my sleep AND current.

So what does this have to do with 7.60? That number swing has shrunk. Instead of being 10-15 bpm higher it's only 3-5 bpm over the range found in the calendar. Whatever the change that came within 7.60 (at least for me) just tightened the measurement on the main menu.

As for the stress? Before 7.60 it sat at 10-11 ALL the time. I literally never budged. I want to claim i'm the most super-chill person in the land, but that is simply not true. Now after 7.60 i'm seeing more movement. To me it seems to fluctuate with my day better. This past Saturday I had a fairly frazzled day and the stress levels showed it, both in peaks and for the total (29 for the day). Sunday was quiet and so my stress was back to normal (10). I don't know what the context is for the Stress beyond the basic understanding, but for me it seems to work...?
  • I have the same issue since the update, stress level reading doubled and RHR went up about 10bpm. Supposedly, a hard reset will fix the issue. I haven't had a chance to try yet.

  • Same thing for me here. Would a hard reset wipe out all of my training records/status and everything?
  • A hard reset (press and hold power button until turns off) no. A master reset yes.
  • After reading some similar experiences in other corners of this forum, I decided to take the plunge and do a full manual reset to see if the stress data would return to pre-update levels. I am pleased to say that it seems that all the pfaff having to to re-configure the watch afterwards was probably worth it. After almost 2 days of data, my levels seems to be back to about 15-ish, where they were before. The day.long graphs are commented with "you have many restful moments today..." instead of "you had very few restful moments today..". I got my life back ;-)
