Count steps wiith App "Stair Stepper"

Hello,

ist there a device, that is able to count the steps if using indoor stair stepper app? Would footpod work?
  • I have tried a footpod on an elliptical trainer and on an Octane Zero Runner. It did not register anything useful on either of those. I suspect a footpod needs the impact forces only running provides to register steps correctly.
  • A footpod doesn't count steps. Steps are counted by the watch, and if you are holding on to something, it may not see the steps. It's the same if you are on a treadmill and holding on to the rails. You could try having the watch in your pocket.
  • Steps are counted by the watch.

No, they are not. Neither on an elyptical trainer (with arm movements) nor on a stair stepper (no armswins bur gentil impacts). But I agree, if able for power measuerement and golf armswings, the unit itself should have the technical potential to measure steps indoor.

You could try having the watch in your pocket.

Yes. Or you could shake the watch every two steps you make. Later you multiply the result by 2. ;)
  • A footpod will not add steps to your daily step total. The watch must move in a motion that simulates steps. Too safely generate steps, on a step trainer is to attach your watch to your ankle.

My StairMaster+ app allows the use of the foot strike sensor and record steps, however the watch must move. My elliptical app will record steps, again the watch must move.

  • Thanks for your advice. Workaround is not working to me as I need also OHR. I know that I could use breast strap to get HR. But I'm already the strange guy in gym. If I start wearing my watch at the ankle I don't know where this would end. :D

I see initially the ball on Garmins side. It's weird that Garmins "flagship" (at least in price) with all its bunch of sensors isn't able to show these data,
