Ahhhhhhh.. I see what you're saying. I just never really thought about that since I'm not constantly looking at my Garmin Connect app while running. It looks like it's best to disable from the watch rather than just turning off Bluetooth on the phone. Or does it matter?
  • I really don't have the bug with my setup, but I think disabling via the watch will be fine
  • It would be nice to support this natively. This connect data field, while nice is inadequate for training. It would be nice to have power warnings, create customized workouts, and mix and match data fields like you can with biking power.
  • Agree 100% - please make running power native, so that it works with 3rd party sensors also, thinking of Stryd mainly.

    Any feedback here?

It's such a shame Garmin doesn't allow power in RUN profiles.

    Any update here Garmin-Joey

    About NATIVE power support
  • I'm also voting for the native power support in running profiles!
  • In fact I just bought a Suunto Spartan Sport...! It's actually a quite nice watch. But most important, IT SUPPORTS POWER NATIVELY in running profiles and with the latest firmware (from may) you can also train with power zones...!

Polar does the same - supports power natively.

And I must admit - it's a deal breaker for me. If Garmin doesn't enable running power to work just like in a bike profile, then I'm done with Garmin. I just can't understand why this is so hard to do...?!
  • Anybody from Garmin reading this...!?

If so - then please work on training making it possible to train according to your power zones....

FWIW - if you haven't heard yet. Rumors are saying the oncoming Polar Vantage (V800 successor) has running power integrated. Hopefully their web-software also supports it. Could be VERY interesting to have zone-lock for powerzones while running.

V800 already does this doesn’t it? Polar have supported native power during runs for a while now. I wish Polar would’ve put out a viable competitor to the 935. My overall experience with the 935 (as a new watch) has definitely been worse than that I had with the V800 (as a new watch). (V800 is clearly a generation or more behind at this stage though.) The main saving grace for the 935 is the Connect IQ platform.

Ok, just brushed my V800 off and went for a quick test. (I'd bought the 935 before V800 added native power support, and haven't used it since.) V800 does support "native" power in it's running profiles, the main thing I think missing is "locking" to a power zone (so that it can give you notifications when you've strayed). As far as I can tell, there's no way to set a target power zone on the Polar platform for intervals etc either.
