Spanish garmin/text file

Hello:

I have an APAC version of the Forerunner 935 and I'd like to see the watch translated into spanish. I have read that there's people that have edited the garmin/text files with success.

My question is if somebody could attach the spanish.ln3 file (from a non apac version) and see if I can replace the vietnamise or another language for the spanish one.

Thanks in advance

    Saludos
  • Muchas gracias Mark.

As Mark said, the fenix 5, 7.00 beta firmware has all the languages but if I try to put the spanish.ln3 changing the thai.ln3 or another language file, it does not make effect. The firmware overwrites the files, restoring the automatically the old ones (at least in the APAC version of the watch). Or how can I flash the firmware that has spanish language?
Does anybody know how can I put the watch in spanish? I understand that I should not flash the beta 7.00 from the fenix 5 into the forerunner 935.

    Thanks in advance.

What happens if you take the Spanish file and rename it to be Tagalog or some language that is based off of the Arabic alphabet? I know it's ignored by the OS but I have never tried renaming the file. If it's signed or something it wouldn't work but who knows it's worth a shot.
  • I have tried that renaming the spanish.ln3 to thai.ln3 and choosing thai in the watch, but it does not take effect.

What I have seen in the webupdater is that you can flash the same version that you actually have (and the webupdater keeps the files inside the watch).
There's another thread about the fenix 5 speaking about people that has succesfully converted the APAC to non APAC version (using the betas or the webupdater), but in the Forerunner 935 both of these thing do not work

What it seems is that the webupdater, copies the files to flash to the watch and flashes the files that the program has uploaded to the watch. If we are able to copy the files we want instead the one that is being copied to the \GARMIN folder, we should be able to make the trick with the web updater...

  • Edit:

In the \Garmin\GarminDevice.xml , there's Model tag. Which is the part number of the non APAC version? If you change the version 600 for a 550 in that file, Webupdater detects that there's a new version and ask you to update. So perhaps, just changing the part number for the non APAC, we can get the update we want.

I'm thinking in copying the \GARMIN\TEXT files from the ROW version of the Forerunner 935 (instead the ones which came with the Fenix5). Can anyone share these files?

    Thanks.
