935 recording swimming intervals as rest

Firstly, I apologise if this has been raised before but I have searched through here and the Fenix 5 forum without finding anything.

I've only had the 935 for a couple of weeks having upgraded from the 910.

On my last couple of swims my watch has been recording normally for most of the session but then seems to take it upon itself to record intervals as "rest", this has happened towards the end of the workout admittedly but neither one has been particularly long. Am I accidentally pressing one of the buttons or something which is causing this to happen? I am definitely not in the Drill Log.
  • Hm, do you accidentally press the lap button? This will start the rest timer. I used it for time based intervals, e.g. 4 x 200m: "Start" - 200 m - "Lap" - rest until interval is 10 min (yes, I'm a poor swimmer) - "Lap" - next interval - .... - "Stop".
  • No Ollypsilon, I deliberately press the lap button to start an interval after a rest, but it then records an interval as rest

Can you tell us the steps you do when you swim and also share a link to your swim?

I do this and it works fine

    1. Get to pool, press top right button, chose Pool Swim

    2. Screen displays white background with Interval Time and Int Distance displayed.

    3. Press top right again and start swimming.

    4. Press bottom right at end of interval, screen then has a black background with Int time, rest timer, repeat on and int distance.

When ready to swim again Press bottom right which takes me to same display as stage 2
  • The steps by kitenski above is exactly what I do when I swim. You need to make sure that when swimming the watch has a white background, if it is black, then its in rest mode.
  • No Ollypsilon, I deliberately press the lap button to start an interval after a rest, but it then records an interval as rest

Well, in this case (pool swim) lap button a false friend by literal reading. It doesn't start a new lap/interval. First press "ends" interval and starts rest phase, second press starts next interval. See my "procedure" and description of user kitsenski above which is the same.
  • Same process as the 920 - Start to begin the session. Press lap at the end of an interval, press lap again to start the next interval. Repeat as necessary until finished. At the end of the las interval press either lap then stop, or just press top.
  • Thanks for the replies...kitenski that's exactly what I have been doing. This was the activity that I noticed it most on...

Not sure what was happening there. This week everything seems to have been fine, 4 swims and everything recorded as it should have been.
