Swimming Stroke Rate per interval?

Is it possible to get avg and max stroke rate per interval?

I see it in the swim summary on GC, but not on the intervals?

I'm trying to improve my stroke rate and wanted to try various things on 100m intervals and see what affect it had.

Thanks!

Greg
  • Well, beside the summary there's also a drill-down by interval. It gives you total strokes and average stroke rate. The strokes per length you'll get in the chart. Unfortunately not all at the required level the same time ;-)

Nope, don't get that in the interval breakdown, hence the question! No average stroke rate per interval.

This is what I see: https://i.imgur.com/w3jWCeo.png

  • Post a link to the activity please. Can't see what you are talking about. You've got both Total Strokes that will give you the average per interval and Avg Strokes gives you average per length. What more do you want?

I'd like average stroke rate per interval in the table, ie is how many strokes I take per minute for each specific interval.

I get that in the summary for the whole session where it states the following, I am trying to see if I can get that same strokes/min per interval

    29 strokes/min - Avg Stroke Rate
    32 strokes/min - Max Stroke Rate
  • Have you seen the marks I've made in the picture? What's this if not avg stroke rate per interval?
  • No you can't. Strokes per minute is a metric you'll have to calculate from the strokes/length and the time taken. Unless there's someone who'll write a data field for you. And of course, make a suggestion to Garmin if that's what you want. But since you're pretty close to 2 min/100m you're not going to be far off estimating from the numbers you've got.

Thanks, yes I can see the marks. That is average strokes per length, it isn't avg stroke rate per minute, as I can see in the summary pages. The summary shows BOTH what you circled and what I'd like to see per interval.

Shame as they are calculating it for the overall swim so the info is "there" just needs displaying IMHO

Well, in your initial question you asked about stroke per interval, not per minute ;-)
