There's no dedicated ski touring app (backcountry skiing), so I modified the built-in ski app and turned off autolap, as I understand it counts only descents and no ascents.
To my surprise, it didn't work as expected. It correctly tracked the ascent part - i.e. no pause, but counted the ascent as descent. So instead of 500m ascent and 500m descent it said I did 0m ascent and 1000 m descent. I corrected this manually in GC, but laps still show descent only.
Is it a bug? I wanted to have she skiing icon next to the app name in the watch but now I just created another app (activity) based on Other.
It's a shame you can't have the same sports on the watch as are available on GC and have to manually change them in GC. Any tips or workarounds?
