OK, so my 920xt's buttons weren't quite registering, and I've just wanted the wrist-based HR sensor for a long time. Got the Forerunner 935 Tri bundle as a replacement.
My first thoughts...
-- The charging cable stinks. That clicky feeling when you plug it in is going to break eventually. My 925xt's cradle charger was quite adequate... wish it was continued. I don't see much improvement in the current charge cable. Would have been good engineering to have some sort of a charger that would let you use the device while charging. Now, the cable points at a right angle into the wearer's arm! And why is the charging cable so SHORT?!?! Wish the watch came with two cables in the box.
-- Why is there no default watch face that lets me see my wrist-HR right on the home screen? That's the biggest technology differentiator from the last model, and I need to press buttons to see it?
-- Why is the HRM-Swim so SMALL? With it fully extended I can barely get it around my chest (~48"). Never had this problem with ANY other HRM strap. Interesting that the HRM-Tri fit around my kid's chest though: the old HRM-Run didn't. I'm wearing the HRM-Swim now for a few minutes and it feels very uncomfortable. HRMph...
-- The rubber bands on the 935 are way more stretchy than the 925xt's bands. Not sure I like it... I feel like they're going to break easier. Has anyone had issues with this?
-- The Quick Release dock looks real bulky. Man, I thought my 925xt's QR mechanism was bulky...
-- I like the round shape of the watch. It looks more non-GPS watch-like. BUT... I miss the rectangular shape that lets me fully fill up quad display fields.
-- Still getting used to menu navigation. Definitely not consistent, for better or for worse. Wish Garmin picked one interface to navigate.
-- Why does the HRV stress score measurement require use of a HRM strap? Why can't I use my wrist OHR sensor?
I'll go out for my first activities tomorrow. Hope it all works...
