Garmin 935 vs fenix 5x??

Hi,
which one to choose??
Battery duration 935 24h fenix 5x 20h
weight 935 48g fenix 5x 98g
Cage 935 plastic fenix 5x stainless steel
Memory 935 64MB fenix 5x 12GB
Maps 935 no maps f?nix 5x yes maps

The price is the same but a little more expensive f?nix.
  • Lots of folks reporting problems with the Fenix and happily moving to the 935. I don't know if this is true or not. For me it was as simple as trying them both on. The Fenix was bulky and heavy. Not something I would want to use for long runs and not something I would want to use for all day wear/fitness tracking. The 935 is smaller, lighter and much more comfortable for all day use. Price, battery, maps, case was not part of my decision.
  • I own them both and would not sell either one! I think there have been more complaints on the Fenix 5/5s
  • Is it true 5x fenix problems ?? What problems? 50 grams of more fenix does not seem to me too much
  • Almost all of those reporting problems with the Fenix are related to the 5/5s, not the 5x. Having had both a 5 and a 5x the connectivity issues I experienced with the 5 are not present on the 5x. The 5x maps and routing options are nice additions to the product, but you have to decide if those are worth the extra weight and size. Also the 5x will have sapphire glass which may or may not be of value to you. It was a deciding factor for me. I felt that the durability of the 5x would better suit my "in the mountains" needs even if the 935 was probably a better choice for daily training.

If the price is truly the same between the two, most people would probably just pick the one that they think looks the best on their wrist.

What??You have forerunner 935 and fenix 5x ?? because 2 models They are practically the same
  • I use the 935 for my triathlons and running my hiking and everyday watch is the Fenix 5x with the metal band and leather band its a nice looking combo. The only issues I have had with the 5X is the loose cable issue which is well documented but with the replacement most of that is now solved for me. I like the 5x for hiking so much I just sold my rino 755t because I end up never using it anymore.
  • If you can, try to see the watches at a local store. When you look at the specs you see weight, etc, but it might help to see them side by side to compare the size, as the f5x is larger and I know a few folks that find it a bit too big for them.
  • I run every day but I also go out to the mountain every now and then. The weight of 50 grams is no problem, I had a garmin 910xt 78 grams. was damaged by water.
Why do fenix 5 and 5s fail ??
  • The issues with the 5/5s are generally related to connectivity to external sensors. In short they don't stay connected
  • I'm also thinking that the garmin 230 would replace my ex 910xt few differences 230no virtual partner and 16 h battery mode gps versus 18h garmin 910xt12740Exit
