FR 935 -- Notable differences between the US, European, Asian models?

Dear all,

is there any difference between the US, European and Asian models of the Forerunner 935? My girlfriend is currently in Singapore and is considering getting the FR 935 because it's a bit cheaper there. However, she noticed that the box looks different -- not the long and slim box that the 935 comes in in Europe but a box that looks more like a cube (like the Fenix 5 box). Also, apparently there's also a FR 935 available in Singapore that comes with a yellow band and yellow highlights on the watch -- in Europe we don't have this model, the yellow band only comes with the tri-bundle, which apparently doesn't exist in Singapore.

So, very simple question: is there any reason not to get a FR 935 in Singapore and to use it in Europe? Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

Many thanks!
Georg
  • APAC (Asian-Pacific) are different than ROW (Rest-Of-World) devices, when it comes to language support, as well as firmware. There's another post where someone has a 935 from Vietnam that's still on 3.30, while ROW is on 4.10 for example. You can't use ROW FW on an APAC device, and the APAC FW can be behind the ROW FW. They are different part numbers, etc.

I'd opt for a ROW device myself.
  • Typically the "ROW" version gets software updates first - and seems to be on all devices not just the 935.
Not entirely sure why but I did read somewhere once that some regions like to have more stable releases so you can probably only achieve that by letting the "ROW" users try it out for a few months!
That said, I think the main reason to buy a regional one is for language support and that is I think why the different versions exist at all.

Version lagging is a difference :D

I have one from Vietnam, it's still run 3.30.
While ROW has received 4.10 for about 1 month ago.
  • Is there any way to change the firmware from APAC to ROW?
