Quickfit band comparison and pics

So for those interested, I currently have the official garmin black silicon and leather (received today, yay!) bands and a chinese yellow/green one and thought I'd make some pics on how they look on the 935...

I actually really dig the quickfit bands, they all give the watch quite a different look. Solid black, sporty/summery/happy green/yellow and more serious leather. A chinese blue one is also on the way.

So far my impressions:

1. Chinese yellow sillicon:

The material is more flimsy. Think of wearing the official sillicon one for a few weeks after which it gets more flexible, the chinese is that + some more. I think it actually reminds me a bit of the stock non-quickfit 935 band, Surely decent enough for day to day wear and also for running and such. The clip is set with a pushpin instead of torx (same as with the nonquickfit stock one I heard?) so that construction might a but less solid. The strapholders also are a bit more loose, but the strap stays in fine though. Excellent value for money!

2. Official black silicon:

More rugged then the chinese one, a little bit too rugged/uncomfortable the first day but it loosens up quite a bit and I found it comfortable very fast. The clip is set with torx screws making it more stable I think. They are overpiced imo but I love the idea and straps.

3. Official leather one:

Looks good, very stiff though. Guess that will loosen up with a bit of time as well (and already wearing it 2 hrs makes me notice it less). Wouldn't use this for sporting, but surely for day to day wear. Overpiced imo again, but got a discount as I had to wait so long for it and had a coupon so got it half price instead which is more the proper value.

Conclusion:

Official ones ARE more rugged/decent but are overpriced. Proper pricing would be ~30 for the sillicon ones and ~50 for the leather I'd say. The chinese ones offer great value for money and I have no problem whatsoever using them for general sporting and daily wear... Perhaps going deep-see diving and such you might want to reconsider ;)

If you have any questions, shoot!
  • Hmmm, the original one was thinner, more flexible/flimsy. I liked the quickfit version more, also made the watch itself look more decent. I have had no issues at all wrt quickfit versions being uncomfortable btw, perhaps the first day with the leather one and the first hour with the silicon one but really hardly. I'd have to measure my wrists but it could be that having these small wrists is a blessing here as the quickfit-thicker-part is not digging into my wrist at all (the watch itselfs extends a bit beyong, so the 'potention annoying part' is hovering a bit).

I'll measure my wrists and try to make a clear(er) picture this evening about what I mean...

I'd really appreciate that before spending quite some Euros on straps :p

Ugh! Completely forgot of course, but here they are :)

My wirst is about ~15.5 cm at the place where I wear the watch...

Thanks a lot! Even though my wrists are slightly bigger I also see these "gaps" when wearing it, so the experience with the QF straps should be similar to yours.
I'll pull the trigger tonight. It just looks to good to say no :)
  • My cheap and cheerful AliExpress Quickfit bands turned up. They fit fine and whilst the bands are slightly less stretchy than the standard (non-quickfit) band that came with the 935 I've actually found that a good thing - for me the original is a touch too stretchy. Seemed fine during a run using OHR, was reading what I expected to see. Very impressed so I've gone back to AliExpress and found that from 3-4 different options there are now tonnes..which means competition...which means I've got 3 more coloured quickfit bands en route for less than ?9.

I know it's sad that I've bought colours to match my different shoes, race vest and favourite tops but at throwaway prices why not.

But that's exactly the great thing about the quickfit bands, it's completely no hassle to change them :)
  • I got my ebay chinese quickfit bands this week and they seem just fine! I'm happy with the quality and how they feel on the wrist. The strap is significantly thicker than the original (non quickfit) one around the area where the quickfit mechanism is located. I notice that this causes the watch to be lifted slightly away from my skin such that I can see a small amount of green light from the HR sensor shining through the gap. With the original strap this doesn't happen for me. I'm not sure if this detracts from the HR reading accuracy though.

    Not sad, it's cool

Got a link for these 3$ (or 3??) straps ?

I couldn't help myself and gor the PU Leather (leather on the inside apparently) for ?8 yesterday : https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Carprie-New-Luxury-Leather-Strap-Replacement-Watch-Band-With-Tools-For-Garmin-Fenix-5-GPS-Dropshipping/32820059864.html

Ebay has some QF metal straps now, none visible on AE so far.
  • Just received the first two of my third-party bands and am pretty pleased. I don't have a Garmin OEM band on me currently (other than the standard 935 band) but I concur with the reviews that they seem a little thinner than I recall the OEM band being, but very flexible. They're thinner than the Moko fenix 3 bands I have, but they seem appropriate for the 935. I've decided to order a couple more. They're a bit more expensive than some of the eBay options I've seen, but fast and free shipping with Amazon Prime.

  • Finally received my metal third party strap as well, I do like how it looks and is great for the price (although have to wait and see how the coating holds up). Only thing is that it is not flexible at all of course (doh, metal) and it's either just a bit too loose or a bit too tight for my wrist I think. The loose option is kinda ok, remember with my normal watches I had them even looser, but have to wait and see...
