Quickfit band comparison and pics

So for those interested, I currently have the official garmin black silicon and leather (received today, yay!) bands and a chinese yellow/green one and thought I'd make some pics on how they look on the 935...

I actually really dig the quickfit bands, they all give the watch quite a different look. Solid black, sporty/summery/happy green/yellow and more serious leather. A chinese blue one is also on the way.

So far my impressions:

1. Chinese yellow sillicon:

The material is more flimsy. Think of wearing the official sillicon one for a few weeks after which it gets more flexible, the chinese is that + some more. I think it actually reminds me a bit of the stock non-quickfit 935 band, Surely decent enough for day to day wear and also for running and such. The clip is set with a pushpin instead of torx (same as with the nonquickfit stock one I heard?) so that construction might a but less solid. The strapholders also are a bit more loose, but the strap stays in fine though. Excellent value for money!

2. Official black silicon:

More rugged then the chinese one, a little bit too rugged/uncomfortable the first day but it loosens up quite a bit and I found it comfortable very fast. The clip is set with torx screws making it more stable I think. They are overpiced imo but I love the idea and straps.

3. Official leather one:

Looks good, very stiff though. Guess that will loosen up with a bit of time as well (and already wearing it 2 hrs makes me notice it less). Wouldn't use this for sporting, but surely for day to day wear. Overpiced imo again, but got a discount as I had to wait so long for it and had a coupon so got it half price instead which is more the proper value.

Conclusion:

Official ones ARE more rugged/decent but are overpriced. Proper pricing would be ~30 for the sillicon ones and ~50 for the leather I'd say. The chinese ones offer great value for money and I have no problem whatsoever using them for general sporting and daily wear... Perhaps going deep-see diving and such you might want to reconsider ;)

If you have any questions, shoot!

Excellent write-up FlipStone. I'm with you - I really like the Quick Fit bands. Love being able to change the look of my 935 in just a quick minute. I have the black, yellow, and blue Garmin silicone bands. My next one might be the new black leather one recently introduced, but am not sure how different looking that would be from the black silicone. I like the brown leather band too.

    Thanks :)

And oh? Black leather? Haven't seen that one yet (and can't find it right now). But indeed, think it might not be as noticably different from the black silicone one...

Now I only want a metal one (black), had a chinese normal band which looked very nice with it but no quickfit. And I'm really not gonna spend the original price on a metal band (and I even think the chine one looked better).

If you buy a band, do you get a kit with it to remove the original band since that one is not a Quickfit band?

With the original Garmin ones, yes. You get 2 torx screwdrivers with it.

The chinese quickfit band, nope. (Even though with the chinese non-quickfit band I ordered I DID get 2 torx screwdrivers).

Then again, I believe it's torx5 so you might have those lying around already (though you will need 2 to fix them both). Once you have the quickfit bands, no more screwdrivers needed and you can swap as you wish :P

Quick question. I have the 935 which came with both black and yellow bands and a extra pin set. With the quickfit bands do you just use the stock pins and clip on the bands or are a different pin for the quickfit band?

Just the stock pins, but you have to unscrew those to remove the stock bands first (as they are not quickfit). After that just put the pins back and you can click on the quickfit bands :)

    Hey Flipstone!

Thanks for this great write up! Very helpful in my watch band purchase decision making.

Any chance that you can share photos of the metal strap you've purchased, on your 935?

    Thanks again!

Great to hear it helped, I actually broke the metal one trying to 'modify' it into a quickfit band but here are the pics I took back then (band was not fit to my wrist then though, so very loose... but at least an impression):

  • Hi Flipstone?

Where did you get the Chinese Yellow/Green coulour?

I have th Amp Yellow which looks more towards a dull yellow rather than a luminouse yellowish green
